Hello minecraft/notch/public if you reading this...
I thought it would be a good idea to suggest adding a way to increase productivity by earning achivments, by increasing the skill in witch the achivement was about! for example...
you have an achivemnt path for crafting(you should) and you make a crafting table, this gains you the achivment of making a crafting table, now rather than getting 4 torches per craft... you get 5
well i dont know if it should be the same for every thing, what i mean by that is, you shouldent be getting 200 torches on everycraft beacuse you did all the achivemtnts, it could be specific to certain items... for example you craft a wooden staircase, now it increases the amount of processd wood you get by one.
Heres allitle more ideas
Mine Dimond! now you can pick alittle faster
kill 10 creepers, you are now an exparenced creeper killer, they have alittle less health
grow 100 crops, now they grow alittle faster
Well it can go on and on... use your imagination

Well lets say your playing in a server, and you are mining like crazy, and no one els is doing much... why should they be as good as you! in real life(not saying this is real life) if you were to mine more than anyone els, you would be more experianced, thus you could do it better than them... well i must admit though, my suggestion does need inprovemnt so keep questioning it!
While I appreciate the idea of skill improving achievements, I don't particularly care for them in multiplayer, and they would need to be toggleable, so that people wouldn't have to have them on. Multi-player balance would be an issue, especially on PvP servers, if people started getting extra abilities and such.
That being said, there are some circumstances in which I think these would be great, especially for single player!
- Obsidian miner: After mining your first block of obsidian, obsidian mines much faster
- Dungeoneer: You've destroyed 5 mob spawners! Now you get better drops from chests in dungeons
- Survivor: You survived a dip in lava! Now you burn for half as long
- Glutton: You've eaten 50 pieces of bacon! Now you're an expert at eating bacon (Bacon now stacks in 2's in your inventory)
The primary benefit from things like this, is that people who were interested in particular things that are otherwise more time-consuming, they can slowly get better at them (such as mining obsidian, raiding dungeons, mining near bedrock, killing mobs). I think that on hard mode, these should be inactive, to provide more of a challenge for people who want it, but I definitely see the merit of the idea.

I don't like the idea anyway. I'd support making Minecraft a bit more rpg like, but not by relating skills with archivements.
So how do you suggest making it more RPG like, im all open to sugesstions.. cause when you think about it, its not that much of a change, its not like im asking to ad a leveling system with skill points... so if you have anything more suttule just say so!
I totally love this idea, or a good idea would to be add a skill system in which you are able to level your skills and unlock as you go along instead of being able to just get it all at once. Make people for it a little harder :smile.gif:

There could be an option to toggle skills enhacements on/off. That way, anyone who doesn't like it won't be bothered by it.
You: But hey, i don't want that!
- You won't be bothered, your skills won't be enhanced, it will stay like the old thing, so stop complaining.
I kinda liked the idea, I would enjoy having them on the game. Also, if a player is bored, he can have an objective: Acquiring the achievement to enhance his/her ability. Just like achievements, they are made to make the player want to complete them, so they can have a break from the normal "Build, Survive, Mine, Hunt animals, Survive, Rebuild, Kill Creepers..."

!!! And before someone says: Go get/make a mod for it, notch will not make it...
You don't know what Notch thinks about it, before saying ********, wait for Notch's reply, or, if you know him well, ask him! Maybe he doesn't like the idea, maybe he loves it, but you can only know that consulting him. Keep that in mind.
(I'm new here, but I have read a lot of posts with people saying things like that).
Why do you kids like you have to criticize an idea?
Because babies like you need to learn what's a good idea and what isn't.

Ever thought about playing league of legends? It's an awesome free game, and I get free stuff if you sign up. So follow this link, play the game, and then we both benefit. http://signup.league...6331e2560658368
Making it so that you mine a certain block faster after breaking 1 is pointless, as that 1 block will be the only difficult 1 to break. It's like adding an update that makes the game easier.

Actually, tbh, that statement just makes you look dumb. around 140 posts and you post that. Lmfao nice try. And no idea is stupid. Some people want stuff that other people may like. Thats why it is called an idea. And what your version of a bad idea might be different from someone elses. It is opinion based and the only baby I see here is you, because you were immature enough to post that.

And for you, minecraft is an RPG. RPG stands for Role Playing Game. In this game you are taking the role of a miner that is trying to survive monsters. So yes, this is an RPG.

Abe's Exoddus

"Role-playing games are fundamentally different from most other types of games in that they stress social interaction and collaboration, whereas board games, card games, and sports emphasize competition"

There are two, perfectly legitimate, ways of defining an RPG. One is the one you are using, RPG = Role Playing Game and therefore if you play a role it is an RPG, almost every game is an RPG
Halo - You PLAY the ROLE of the CHARACTER Master Chief
Devil May Cry - You PLAY the ROLE of the CHARACTER Dante (or Nero in DMC4)
Civilization - You PLAY the ROLE of the CHARACTER of one of the great leaders of history
NONE of those games are defined as an RPG (FPS, Action Adventure and Turn Based Strategy respectively)
Then there is the definition that Hybran is using (along with most other people) which is RPG as a specific genre of game which basically goes back to the original D&D and is a much more fluid definition but after looking at a lot of different opinions, the thing repeatedly comes up is "The player’s character grows over the course of the game developing skills, abilities, etc." and "as far as the genre goes, its usually considered an rpg when you have level gaining and getting better equipment involved." Which pretty much rules Minecraft out as an RPG
At the most basic "I'm going to take the exact, literal meaning of the words and use a dictionary to bludgeon your argument into the ground while being as stubborn as a mule" level then yes, you could call Minecraft an RPG because you play a role. The problem with this argument is that it is VERY flimsy because is essentially ends with you holding a dictionary and pointing at a word going "RPG means role playing game" over and over again. The issue here is that language is an ever changing thing and the exact, literal meaning of a word is often not how it is meant. In this case RPG is not meant as "A game where the player plays a role" but rather RPG as a specific genre of computer game as commonly referred to by the gaming community.
Basically, to sum up my argument, again, Minecraft is an RPG in the same way as pretty much every other game on the market can be called an RPG. If you want to use that definition, then fine, but next time you sit down to play Halo, Crysis, Dead Space, Need for Speed, Civilization, Warcraft, Starcraft, Command & Conquer or Guitar Hero (or pretty much any other game), I want you to think to yourself "I am playing an RPG" and see if that feels right. Meanwhile, the rest of us will continue to understand that the RPG genre is completely different to what you think it is.
If you can come up with a rational argument as to why I'm wrong then I will happily continue to argue my point, if you come back with anything that resembles "durrrr dictionary" then I will assume that you are a mule and ignore you completely.
All of which pretty much say "dictionary definition =/= common usage"

Edit, MMORPG.
Games are "classified" into different categories. Every game is an RPG. BUT, not relevant! My definition of a classified RPG is "A game where you progress along and gain skills and more to aid you on your quest." Minecraft? Not really that.
"But Hybran! Wooden, stone, iron, diamond picks/whatevar are progressing in skills!"
NO. It only helps you with mining time and ability to mine other materials. We are not playing the role of the pickaxe, and the pickaxe can never change. You always craft a new one.
Back to achievements that increase skill, the game is still god-tier enough with diamond toolsets and what-not, so if you are way too bored to strip mine for diamonds (I'm not :tongue.gif:) then boo-hoo. Achievements are just...there. I set projects for myself to increase my own skill, not to do half-assed chores (any ones that people think of, like 10000000000000000 stone blocks mined).
Heck, I hate the ideas of being able to craft 5 torches for making a crafting bench. You wouldn't even HAVE coal by the time you made a crafting bench (no charcoal either, HAHAHA!) so renders it pointless. Making a random staircase to "increez ur mad 1337 skillz at makin reefind wood" doesn't make sense. Both in grammar and in logic.
Ahem, rant.
I'll stop now before this ends up being 17 paragraphs like one of my other rants on another forum.
First off I am not a mule and tb you have never, ever met me. So saying that just makes you look stupid. Second I WAS REFFERING IT AS GENERAL RPG. NOT THE GENRE. There is two definitions and I checked an updated dictionary. Theres the Genre and the real meaning. The real meaning is that you are taking the role of some fictional thing or item in which YOU ARE NOT. So, if you want to continue to argue over this, read the dictionary and get a brain and then come talk to me.
