So the server is open and all, but i cannot find the server ip to change to my ip because i cannot open the server.properties file. I don't know why I cannot open this file, but it just says cannot open then asks if I want to choose a program or search the internet. Please help.

Press choose a program then notepad.

then what do i put in the ip box. it only works when it is blank, but if it's blank then idk how to access the server :/

Leave it blank. Changing it will screw it up.

To connect, go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and give others that IP along with your port number.
EX: ##.###.###.##:25565 <- only if you're using 25565 port.

If you want to connect easier, just type "127.0.0.1" or "localhost"

Ive done this and it still says
"Failed to connect to server
Connection refused: connect"

But if i put my ip, the server itself wont start :/

For others it is the IP
For you it is "localhost"

if says failed to bind port when i do that.
