I have noticed something about the starting achievements for mine craft from beta 1.5
I don't own the game, been playing it on my mates computer. I have my own world on his computer, my own file, and the update has introduced achievements. I know Notch is creating achievements as he goes along.
I have noticed something about the achievements how ever. They are sort of like a tutorial because they are really easy. I like the idea of them starting as a Tutorial. But have you noticed how the first one says how to open the inventory. It shows the key to press. Now, when I first played and I remember it clearly, I had no idea of enemies as my mate told me nothing. I got blown up straight away but I was holding nothing, why? Because I had no idea I could hit wood. The next achievement does not say to hit trees to get wood. I like how the achievements have paths too.
The starting achievements should say things like this. Then comes the achievements of crafting. Maybe they could give hints on what you need to craft, but not say exactly how much you need. Obviously, there are hints...
It says gather wood. Then you must build a crafting bench. This shows you need wood for the crafting bench. Sort of...
Then by now you should get maybe an achievement to do something like gather coal, stone, dirts, etc, etc.
So then it becomes night. An achievement is upgrade your tool, etc, like upgrade pickax.
Anyway, I'm basically saying the achievements might want to be in a tutorial sequence for the beginning. And even for experienced who actually play like a survival, like me, will find this helpful when they first ever play.
I read once of a book showing the achievements and tutorial at the start and at first thought it was a good idea. But what if they got lost, the books, then what?
But this way seems more like mine craft style. I'm thinking of buying the game actually, but it is in development and so I'm playing it. When it goes through some more updates I'm going to buy it. At the moment I'll just test it the way I am and give ideas the way I am and then later I'll buy this game.
So achievements... Yeah, I think they would be great in achievement style.
I remember from long ago, Rune Scape did a similar thing.
Beginner achievements or something were so easy but helped you to start.
Anyone Agree or Disagree, and why?
I don't know if Notch does read these forums and stuff but... I just think this would be a great idea. So, I wrote them down as you can all see... So um... That's it... Also I had ideas for how the achievements should start off as but that can be Notches decision.

Ys -Crying- Why! Why must Sarah die! Why! At least there is still Feena and Reah to guide Adol through his Journey. But... Sarah got turned to stone... That is just plain cruel. Stupid Monsters.
Exactly, I'm glad about this too, Mine Craft will be so much better like this.
And I like how they get harder and harder, like, it starts off with gathering wood, then you eventually get an upgrade your pickax, then you get Iron, which is harder to get, then build rails. This will be awesome to add to Mine Craft.
