Weed isn't addictive it is mentally addictive, Alcohol is more addictive. Actually if your addicted to alcohol and go off it without drugs, You die.
What the hell? There's more of a chance dying by a train falling out of the sky.
We know that weed isnt Physically addictive, but Psicologically addictive ( like you said, mentally addictive ). However just because it is not psysically it doesnt means he wont have side effects.
If he keeps taking it he will start feeling anxiety and will lead him to use even more weed.
That is why the guy who made the thread should atleast talk with him, the police and teacher discussion is ended and i understand it.
But if he doesnt do something, atleast something small like talking to him he will see him suffer from anxiety and other side-effects for years until he gets help by psycologist ( which wont happen now because as kid i would be scared to tell an adult about drug consumption ).

Its not psychologically addictive, its habit forming.Heres some education for you
See now this I dont understand. The main argument ive heard is "the government shouldn't control what you put in your body, someone wants to OD themselves to death, let them do it" but meth addicts can potentially harm people other than themselves.

Meth addicts harm people now. A study was once conducted that showed that if heroin addicts were given a cheap and safe supply of heroin, they would only use enough to maintain addiction and could live fairly decent lives. This same thesis can apply to most hard drugs.
Id report him just because of his age, if you guys were like 18 then I would say let him do what he wants. It could be worse like him drinking or actually smoking cigarettes.

Interesting, I did not know that. Can you link the study?
Today at school my friend walked in late and there was this smell coming out of his backpack, and i said "Whats that smell" and he replies "its weed, dont tell anyone". I get on my bus to go home and i notice him sitting in the back with his weedhead friend(he never rides the bus so i was suprised)They both get off the same stop as me, me and my friend start walking towards my house and i ask if he was being legit about the weed, and he pulls out atiny bag of it then he says hes going to use it tonight...
Im worried is he going to get addicted then **** up his life?
Btw: hes in 7th grade....
A little weed has never ****ed up anyone's life. Don't you report him. Its perfectly safe and fine. If you want to talk him out of doing it all the time then sure. But don't report him or try to talk him out of doing it completely. Weed is safe I promise.
No one likes snitches with its about something as harmless as weed.

No they don't. That's the whole problem of hard drugs. You seem to have very little understanding of the way drugs work on the human brain.
The more you consume, the more your mind "gets used" to the substance, the more you'll need to get the same high the next time.
"God put two white people in the jungle without sunscreen. And they [had intercourse] and now we got people. We got Black people, Arab people, Oriental people and with the amount of inbreeding, very few retards. It seems so plausible!"
It's more due to the fact that the war on drugs is doing more harm than good. It's not stopping people from taking drugs (there is zero evidence that legalising drugs increases the number of users). The laws as they are don't protect people, they just throw people in prison.
When people are addicted to drugs they are hesitant to ask for help because they think they could be arrested if they admit to being on a drug.
If drugs were legal it would make it easier on its users which will be very beneficial to their health. One of the big dangers of drugs like heroin is that it has an inconsistent purity, which can cause you to OD. If it were regulated then you would know how much of it will kill you.
Also there's the reason you already mentioned
Good points, Im still hesitant about the idea but what if it was just decriminalized instead of made legal? That why users could still get help instead of it being legal, (wild speculation inc) it could be sold or put back in coke
marijuana is not addictive the worst thing you can probably do is get lung cancer but other than that its harmless, its good you are looking after a friend but try not to tell him what to do, the worst thing to do is get him or his friends mad. its pretty harmless beer does more damage.
Let's put it this way, Caffeine is more addictive because if you are addicted to caffeine and you stop for let's say 2 days you get depressed and actually want to kill yourself in some cases. So weed is probably the better drug out of Caffeine and Alcohol.
What? Where did you read that? Source please? I agree with the non bolded part. I've heard of people getting psychologically addicted to caffeine, but I haven't heard of people getting physically affected by quitting caffeine.

Yup. But you'll need an insane amount of joints to actually even get close to that, so basically, getting killed by smoking marijuana is pretty damn hard.
Source? I think you're mixing up "addiction rate" with "killabilty rate".
I think hes banking on the fact that no one has ever died from weed overdose in recorded history, while for caffine, not sure, couldn't find a single source.

Better than that, its impossible. You'd have to smoke 46 pounds in ~10 minutes (assuming your subject weighs 150 pounds) to die from it, and you'd pass out from asphyxiation long before you got near that amount.
2g of caffeine is enough to send you too the hospital. It causes Ventricular fibrillation (your heart stops beating properly)
Nobody has ever died from weed.

Where are you going to find 2g of pure caffeine? (Better yet, how would you choke that down, caffeine is bitter?)
Don't eat up the propaganda your parents and teachers throw at you. Weed is less dangerous than tobacco and alchohol, and have NEVER EVER caused a death.
The problem with it is that it causes your braincells to die,

It is very hard to kil yourself from weed via OD
Drug prohibition doesn't work and has a history of failure
its less toxic than alcohol
THC and hemp can fight cancer
Hemp is pretty sweet
Caffine can be addictive. Nicotine is highly addictive and kills more people per year than weed does, in fact there hasnt been an OD on weed in recorded history.
While smoking weed can be harmful, mostly from the smoke, it doesn't contribute to lung cancer

I'm guessing you are the guy who came up with the idea of declaring war on drugs? I'm moving out of this country.
I'm finally back. See profile for details.

Actually weed doesn't contribute to lung cancer, and the THC can actually help fight cancer. The smoke still isnt good for your lungs though.

There is little evidence, however, that long-term cannabis use causes permanent cognitive impairment, nor is there is any clear cause and effect relationship to explain the psychosocial associations.
