Wazzup, forum-goers? I'm here asking what forums you either visited before, or still frequent. It'll be interesting to learn about the origins of most of y'all.
In a nutshell, I want to know what your first forums you frequented were, and all those after that until now. My story...
The first forum I came from was this nasty place of a forum where trolls ran rampant and the mods were too busy having real lives to moderate it well. They were the Dead Frontier forums, Dead Frontier being a Free To Play zombie MMO. It's also known as the first and probably only zombie MMORPG on the internet that is NOT text-based. Anyway.
I joined those forums when I was about 12, and was on there a lot, amassing a grand total of 4661 posts to this day. At one point, I started getting bored of those forums, and stopped going there so frequently when I was about 13. I still go there, though.
My migration to Minecraft was about a year after I got bored of Dead Frontier forums, starting mainly in Fan Art, where I became an avid roleplayer. My transition to Off Topic began when the Forum Roleplay section was made in Off Topic. And here I am now.
And now, internets, I ask you. What is YOUR story?

I'm always happy just 'cause there isn't a reason to be sad.
Don't take this as there is nothing that could cause sadness. I just mean it's pointless to dwell on it. I mean, depression is so boring.
battle.net Starcraft forums (somehow got hacked or something, the hacker posted some inappropriate stuff, and I got banned)
TeamLiquid. Mostly off topic.
That's really it.
Around 2006, I was 9 or so years old. I had gotten, for Christmas, a board game called "Heroscape" (discontinued now :sad.gif: ). I played it often for a few years, getting all the new expansions as they were released. I didn't have internet access. When I was 12, we had recently gotten internet access. Early on, I only went to sites like heroscape.com, bionicle.com, lego.com, and a few other sites with basically nothing to do. Around July last year (when I was 12), I found a forum for Heroscape (heroscapers.com). I frequented that site for a while, and through a thread in their off-topic area, found out about Minecraft in about February of this year (age 13). My activity on the Heroscape site dropped to around 0 for months (before I averaged around 10 posts per day), and I found the Minecraft forums. Around July of this year, I discovered Terraria and go to those forums as well.
If anyone's interested, this is an image of a Heroscape map:
If you're going to respond to me, please quote my post so that I'm notified.
However, if my post is long, please snip parts or put them in spoilers.
My youtube channel: contains Terraria and Minecraft videos (especially Minecraft).
If you ask for reputation, there is a 0% chance of me giving it.
OPINIONS ARE NOT FACTS. DO NOT SAY THAT YOUR OPINION IS A FACT. DO NOT TREAT YOUR OPINION AS A FACT.
You not understanding something is not a sufficient reason to say that it is stupid.
Profanity does nothing except prove your immaturity.
To search these forums: go to google, and type in "site:minecraftforum.net [search parameters]." It works.
How to have many lines in your signature: use spoilers and quotes to separate text without hitting enter. You can also use (indent) tags.
Posting that you don't know the answer serves no purpose besides making you look like an idiot.
Not searching before posting makes you look like an idiot.
If you're going to quote something even semi-long, PLEASE put it in spoilers. If you are the first post besides the OP in a thread, PLEASE don't quote it unless you have an excellent reason for doing so.
If you are going to ask a question, make sure to provide every single bit of possible relevant information.
If you are going to ask a question, make it clear that you are asking a question and not stating a fact. Many users seem to have difficulty with this.

Bands I listen to: Brain Drill, Decapitated, Beneath the Massacre, The Faceless, Impending Doom, and Becoming the Archetype. If anyone knows of clean (lyrics-wise) technical death metal bands, please let me know.
Now, now, children, your uncle DethPotato is here to tell you to be nice to each other regardless of each others' opinions. He is also coming here to tell you to either make a new thread regarding this topic, or get back on the main topic of this thread. Or, you could slightly change the topic of this thread so that your current discussion fits.
Everyone has seen the very numerous threads bashing the various features of 1.9, Notch, Mojang, etc. Can we turn down the hating? Just a little bit? Sure, everyone may not be pleased with enchanting, or potions, but really, is it at all realistic to expect that Notch will undo his work from the past several weeks and take these features out? One, that would infuriate far more players than it might pacify, and two, something like that is completely unprecedented in a game as popular as Minecraft. Complete feature removal? Forget about it. Nobody is forcing you to use enchantments and potions.
.
Adding an XP bar does NOT, I repeat NOT turn Minecraft into an RPG. An RPG, to quote the dictionary, is a game in which players assume the roles of characters in a fictional setting and take those characters through a structured narrative or structured decision making.
.
Fantasy elements are often found in RPGs, but the reverse is NOT true. Fantasy != RPG. XP bar + minor fantasy elements does not and WILL NEVER equal an RPG in Minecraft, since Minecraft is completely devoid of a plot whatsoever.
.
Finally, at the end of the day, you have to give Notch and Mojang some credit for what they have accomplished. Minecraft has over 3 million users. If Mojang was making bad gameplay decisions, why is Minecraft one of the most popular video games of all time? Because Mojang knows what they are doing. The success of Minecraft is testament to it.
.
tl;dr: If you cannot come up with a completely valid reason for claiming that 1.9 ruins Minecraft, please keep your mouth shut.
My first forum was a clan forum for a game called Kingdom of Loathing. A bunch of my friends played that game, so we all formed a clan and made a free forum. After that I was on Bungie.net for a while. For a short time I frequented the Halo Wars forums. I left a few months before that game came out because I was disappointed with the direction they were taking it in. Then I was introduced to the sport of airsoft and frequented the Airsoft Allies forums. That was fun, but the community was on the younger side (mid teens mostly). After a few months I switched to Airsoft Pacific. I'm still active on that forum.
In the off-topic section of AP someone started a thread about Minecraft. That's when I first played classic, bought the Alpha the same day. Within a week I was on these forums. The Minecraft Forums have the richest off-topic section of any site I've seen. There are certain recognizable characters on this forum whose posts are always deep and thought-provoking. You folks know who you are. I only wish I had real-life friends who were as intellectually gratifying to talk with.

This enlightening post brought to you courtesy of a serious overabundance of free time.
My first forum was Moviecodec.com. The Lounge, specifically. I quickly rose the 'ranks' of the site and within 1.5 years was an administrator for about 3.5 years. I was respected by pretty much everyone, and I held over 45,000 posts on the site. This was up until summer of this year, when I became so sick of the site that I banned everyone and deleted everything. It felt so good to drag myself away from that poisonous place. It used to be a great site with the great community, but it could give 4chan a run for it's money at this point, and I became sick of babysitting it.
In late 2007, I got a PS3 and joined PSU (PlayStation Universe). I'm still there now under the guise of 'Rapture', and I'm a good and active member. I have about 11,000 posts. I may leave within the next year though.
Looking at my join date to the left of this post, you all can infer when I joined, and I'm sure you all can assume as to why. I'm not sure how long I'll stay here. Maybe another year or two as Minecraft's massive momentum slows down, or sooner if the brony community dies away.
I will list the forums I've been because I don't like making stories about them. They are all in no order because I am lazy.
Runescape forums
Popular runescape players forums
Behemoth Forums (Castle Crashers)
