That's from an MMO, if I can remember correctly. Tera online, is it not?
Anyhow, that's not anime.
And to add a bit more text to this otherwise bland reply, that is not pedophilia.
As a medical diagnosis, pedophilia (or paedophilia) is defined as a psychiatric disorder in adults or late adolescents (persons age 16 or older) typically characterized by a primary or exclusive sexual interest in prepubescent children (generally age 13 years or younger, though onset of puberty may vary).

As you see, something cannot be pedophilia.
It is the same style as anime, and from what Ive seen so far Japanese people consider underaged girls to be sexy.
That, in my book IS pedophilia.
When I hear the word anime the first thing that pops into my head are scantily clad girls and tentacles...not a pretty picture.
And the fact that all the grown women look like babies with huge boobs.
I like some modern cartoons from the americas, usually the mature ones. ( The Simpsons, Futurama, South park.... ) And also the modern kiddy cartoons ( Spliced, Spongebob, Fairly odd parents, Invader zim, Adventure time... )
I also quite enjoy some manga and anime once in a while. ( Toradora, Some weird Megaman comic I have for some reason unknown... )
But, since I live in America and don't watch much TV anyway, I mostly watch american TV.
I'm not crazy over either, but I suppose my favorite is Japanese animation that doesn't have to stress its anime-ness/shock value too often. This is usually in older anime, but I'm not certain. I guess a kind of American-Japanese mix is what I'm trying to state.
However, I dislike the soft-core pornography/bestiality slipped in to many animes, and exaggerated character reactions get very annoying for me. And overused cookie-cutter characters are also a very big turn off.
I like how some people in this thread uses the worst examples from each side.
That's just silly.
Subtopic: Daria (American) Versus Cromartie High School (Japanese), which do you prefer?
Do you think these two can be compared? They both fall under "high-school-comedy". They're both about a protagonist who is new to high school, although do their cultural properties make them different?
I'm a bit biased when it comes to this question. MLP has some pretty beast animation, but one show cannot account for the whole of western animation. I don't watch a lot of anime, honestly, only when people tell me "OMFG YOU CAN'T MISS THIS, IN FACT WE'RE GONNA WATCH IT RIGHT NOW BECAUSE BOXSET IN MY HAND."
I have seen some REALLY kickass choreography in their animation. I don't know the name of the show, but they were fighting with katanas in a snow covered mill or something.
sometimes. -gurren lagann isn't bad, neither is FMA.
usually they make the MALE protagonist sound like a whiny little *****, or the voice is just so different from what you expect that you can't take it seriously.
prime example: Angel beats! great show, dubs sucked.

I hate Angel Beats. Everyone looks the same, the characters are all happy and cheery all the ****ing time, overused plot(seriously, school kids. Who would've guessed). The rest was OK.
Pedophilia!
I rest my case.

No, I dont like anime.
Well, that's your opinion.
And none of that applies to the animation of animes.
Your case is quite invalid.
American cartoons have a more creative or "weird" drawing style.
I like anime more, but some animes are really pathetic and boring.
See what I mean?

Like anime? Try Visual Novels.

It's better than the original version by far though.
I seem to have xenophobia when it comes to most Japanese things, especially their pop culture so western because it is not japanese.
That's just silly.

I'd rather Japanese anime.. IN Japanese. Usually the English dubs are horrible.

They are not that bad. Come on..
