I am a certainty
My arrival clouds the minds
Of those i embrace
Others revel in my shroud
Fears seem to come to life
I can be cold as a knife
But do not worry
Hope can kindle at my departure
I may be smarter than a human but not a wizard
it takes time for me to survive in a blizzard
i'm in a great film as it is
it involved a bow and not an abyss
my race is peaceful to nature and animals
the name of our race is only one syllable
we usually equip bows as our main weapon
but what we do is our prediction

Just a quick question: Does "riddle" also encompass things like this;
Six glasses are in a row. The first three are filled with milk and the last three are empty. By moving only one glass, how can you arrange them so that the full and the empty glasses alternate?
Or things like this;
I am the beginning of eternity,
The start of the end,
And the end of time.
What am I?
I commonly see things like these described as riddles (these are quite simple examples), but the OP is not very specific on what does and does not qualify.
Yesterday I was on my way to class, when a black cat fell from the sky. I didn't really know what that nonsense was about so I asked him if I could step around him because he was bad luck, but he simply meowed and then disappeared. I was a bit worried that maybe he'd teleported to Afghanistan or somewhere equally dangerous, but a wizard came and assured me that it was alright. I threw my Zune at him because I was 78% sure he was lying. The wizard roared at me and sentenced my mother to thirty five years of chain smoking. I was sad.

Math riddles are still riddles. I draw the line at surreal riddles, though, that use wordplay to make the impossible possible. Like that one with the person sealed in a room without doors and windows, and only a table inside. Irritating.

Good to know
I guess until someone else comes up with a better riddle, I'll just leave those two easy ones here to keep things moving.

Take the middle full glass and pour the milk into the middle empty glass.
Here's one I just thought of off the top of my head:
I'm as light as a feather and can fly in the wind,
But my whispers can be heard when I'm with my friends.
Many creatures follow us when we take to the air,
And many return when we come back once more.
Since I just made it myself, I'm not entirely sure if there are two answers, or if it's too hard of somethin. Sorry.
Anyway...
Alcohol or drugs?
P.S. It's night, not war.

You probably have. It's Bilbo's egg riddle from The Hobbit.
