I'd bet on there's another one next year. After that it's getting iffy but as long as minecraft remains popular I can't see them not doing one. Personally I'd like to see it rotate between the US and elsewhere in odd/even years.
I seriously doubt there will be a Minecon 2013. By that time I think Minecraft will lose MOST of its popularity.
Lolno. There are millions of people who play Minecraft, and that number is increasing rapidly everyday, on both the PC and Xbox. It is also updated quite regularly, is extremely popular on YouTube and a bunch of other websites, and has a pretty large and active modding base. Basically, the Minecraft community is gigantic—there is simply no way most of these people are going to disappear in only a year, unless Mojang does something hugely drastic and game-changing (which I kinda doubt).
Now, it's perfectly true that the popularity of Minecraft will die down eventually, of course...but in 2013?
Lets hope its in america next year.... and minecraft is growing, i'm sure, the updates keep people waiting, and all the mods make the game more intresting. certainly it will grow. Case closed.
I hope that minecon be in Europa in Norway in Oslo because that is lots of friends play minecraft i know at least 100 maby 500 in Norway that play minecraft, so i hope Europa in Oslo in Norway please Norway.
wtf are you on? minecraft has a player base in the millions and will soon be in the billions. at this rate there will be a 4131 minecon!!
Yes... "At this rate," but rates change. People get bored, games get old, out-dated, abandoned, or just plain out say "This is the best it can be, so leave it as it is."
Yes, currently the rates are as big as when star wars came out, and the fans are just as crazy. Now, the first star wars movie that came out is cheesy because of how technology has improved in computers and computer graphics. However, that's just a movie. Let's take a look at GAMES' "boring" rate.
"Call Of Duty 1," made in 2003. It broke the sales record for any game. Give it 10 years and it's not fun shooting sketchy images.
"Guitar Hero 1," made in 2005. It was in the high sales. But what happened from there? It's boring to play old songs that nobody knows, everyone got bored of playing the same songs over and over again, and everyone thought it lacked features.
"Dance Dance Revolution 1," made in 1998. You can stay fit, practice your dance moves, AND it's the only game where you actually have to move something other than your thumbs and fore-fingers. But, you guessed it! Songs get old, dance routines get tedious, and it's not challenging enough.
What do all of these games have in common? Sequels. That's the only reason why they sustained a long buisness life. Minecraft, however, is still, technically, in development because of it's constant updates. Soon enough, people will run out of ideas. The new product becomes a completely different game, and loses a ton of it's loyal fans. They revert that back to an older version to gain more fans again, and make a sequel. Minecraft, however, will be near impossible to make a sequal to, seeing how it has no plot, story, or timeline. It will end when their imagination ends, and the Minecraft population will slowly die, until it is unheard of, just like old games such as "Pong," "Centipede," and even the original "Mario."
I hope that from reading this you have learned that Minecraft WILL end (not that I want it to), and Minecraft will die. It will be extinct.
Within the next 200 years, we will probably be able to transfer our conciousness into a robot, and play games as if they were real life. Fight other people without getting hurt, create whatever you want, do whatever you want to do! By then, Minecraft will be obsolete. Nobody will know of it, or ever will.
I apologize if I just made anyone's day just that much darker, but it's the truth layed out flat.
In the meantime, this is the game where we fight other people, build what we wanna build , and do whatever we wanna do, so play on!
Man Guys there has to be a minecon 2013! I really want to go! My Dad had flew to Hong Kong before so where ever it is Im pretty sure i'll go so Yeah! So, lets help and Jeb. So I'm out! P.S. I <3 .
You raise some good points there, but I'm pretty sure the rates will continue for long enough to have at least one more Minecon. Definitely not another 2000, but almost certainly one more.
Anyway, next year it should be somewhere well away from Las Vegas and Paris. Somewhere in Asia or Oceania would be a good choice.

No, there has never, ever been a sandbox game with a story or ending... except Grand Theft Auto... and Saints Row... and Red Dead Redemption... and Crack Down... and Assassins Creed...
I hope they put it in LA because there are many tourist attractions here. Some of them include Universal Studios Hollywood, Disneyland, Legoland, Seaworld, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Knotts Berry Farm, LA Zoo, San Diego Zoo, Santa Monica Pier, Raging Waters and much much much more! Thereare probably a lot of people who will agree with me and others who will argue with me but this is just my thought and I hope some people who work on or are famous because of Minecraft see this post.

Minecon should never go to LA. It's literally just a short drive away from Vegas (where it was in 2011). Minecon should attempt to reach the entire fanbase, not just stick to western America.

2011: US
2012: EUROPE
2013: Should be US, it shouldn't be in europe for two years in a row. or maybe in Australia. Chill

Mainly because those are the only places I'd be able to go to it
