Hello, thank you for taking a look here. As you might know, horses are CONFIRMED. We have official proof of vanilla horses.
See, horses have been (at least partially) coded already. So just calm down and get over it. Also, I shall try to form rebuttals to some common arguments against horses.
1. But we have piggies!
Rebuttal: So, riding pigs is a horribly useless feature, unless you boost (which uses 1/4th of the Carrot on a Stick's durability) you are better off walking.
2. But it is soooooooooo cliche!
Rebuttal: and zombies, grass, trees, low-res aesthetics, skeletons, giant spiders, slimes, witches, ect. aren't?
3. It ain't quirky like riding pigs!
Rebuttal: So, too much quirky stuff is a bad thing. If you saw a guy do something quirky, and he did nothing but that, I would guarantee you would want to beat him with a brick within the first 5 hours.
4. It is so useless!
Rebuttal: There are many things in Minecraft that are useless.
Finally, Mojang's Minecraft team probably worked hard on this feature, I don't think someone would throw away work that at a minimum took a few days because of the above mentioned arguments. We also have no idea what the specifics are on horses anyways, so people... if you are going to complain, wait until you have actually used it. So in short, calm yourselves!Good god, people and their entitlement theses days...
Horses will be one of those things people complain about and eventually give up once they realize they're not the voice of 10,000,000 players, like many other features added in the past.

Yeah, this song and dance keeps playing on repeat.

Things that may be added to the horse could have been added to the pig. Makes it easier to code. It also renders pigs, again, more than worthless. And that is the principle you call redundancy. I do not care for originality, but the reason why, and why in this way, and why it is the best way or not, these things are my question.

Would you like to know the atomic structure of a piece of bread?
I actually like that horses are getting added... Imagine two armies. One with Pig Riders and another one with Horse Riders... With other words perfect for factions!
Suddenly, spider jockeys join the fight!
On topic: I am quite glad they're adding horses. It will actually give me more of a reason to build a stable and whatnot. Plus actual transportation that is fairly easy to use and can bring me where I wish fast. (Minecarts needs rails and those rails need to be moved to pick your destination. Pigs, well, I really never have them around, nor breed them anyway. Plus constantly making carrots in fishing rods can get quite annoying.)

You're assuming quite alot of things, though. Heck, even in the Mo' Creatures mod, horses..... control very, very strangely. I've always ignored (and obliterated) them as a result, instead of riding them. And of course pigs control pretty oddly as well. I'll certainly give the accursed horses a try once they're added to vanilla, but somehow, I have a feeling I'll end up sticking to using Nether portals, speed potions, and minecarts all for travel instead of horses.

That, exactly that. It would have made SO much more sense to just do something more with the pigs that were already there.
I am with you 100%. I'm tired of these ungrateful 12 year old's complaining on how they hate the idea of horses, even though they don't know the specs of them or what they even will do. Many just assume and judge, on the spot, and this makes me mad. I am always open to the updates that Mojang releases and I always will!
If they are addded, I'd like them, but I want to make harder to control it completely. (WASD control)
A; it needs a health bar, and can be damaged by falls, hits, or mobs.
B: It should buck you off when untamed. (Feed 4 apples to tame)
C: To control it like a controlled pig; use an apple on a stick.
D; For WASD and speed, use a Golden Apple on a stick.
It should also be healed with apples Regular( 2 hearts) Golden (4 hearts) and Golden Enchanted(6 hearts).
A: Makes Scence
B: Nice, but perhaps make the taming requirement a bit more dificult
C & D: No. Seriously, now you are just making a worse version of the pig.
I personally think the horse should be a direct upgrade from pigs, like how a diamond pick is a direct upgrade from an iron pick. Giving it a higher bar for obtaning is fair enough, but if you were to compare pigs and horses without factoring obtainment requirements then the horse would be better, IMO. (By obtainment requirements, I basically mean the requirements for taming, not some stupid upkeep junk. I mean, when you craft an iron pick, you don't have to worry about rust.)
P.s. I still try to find out what makes a feature supposedly "fit or not fit" minecraft. If it is in, then it fits because the creators have decided that it fits.
P.p.s. Thank you to everyone for not sparking a massive 97 page flame-war yet. I hope this won't turn out like the complaint topic about leather in books. Good god did that spin out of control.

TT2000, you are genius.

...I think that must be a new record for internet forums.
True that. Now let us commence it ... Hahahahahahahaaa!

No... It should be like how it is in Mo'Creatures.
Just climb on and riiide.
