Personally, my favorite is the Water World preset as it opens up new ideas for building. Along with the fact of marine animals, this would be so much cooler if we had fishes and that kind of stuff... It would add so much more detail and realism into the game!
I wish we could spawn npc villages on top of the oceans. This would be an extremly fun survival experience
I thought the same before I tried the preset. Then I tried it. you spawn on the sand layer.
I'd still like to see it... Maybe if the goodie chest contained a bucket it'd work.
You know you can type your own ones into the box don't you?
These are my favorite one I have made so far
1;7,73,10x1,10x3,2,6:3;4
From bottom to top its Bedrock, Redstone ore (just for fun), 10 layers of stone, 10 layers of dirt, grass, Jungle Saplings. (And set as jungle biome)
It's really fun for survival. The world starts flat but starts to grow into a huge jungle forest. No animals spawn because of the sapling ground it seems, so you need to use bonemeal to get a wheat farm started (or find a village).
And this
1;7,40x0,89,9x0,89,9x0,89,9x0,89;1
Bedrock, 40 layers of air, and then 1 layer of glowstone every 10 squares up with air in between. Great for designing redstone circuits.

You can make it spawn villages above the ocean. Heres how.

Basically all I did was move one of the sand layers up to above the water. You, animals and villagers spawn up there. When you start all the sand will be floating but if you break 1 piece of sand the entire sand of the level sinks to the bottom. All the animals start swimming around and any villager who was luck enough to be inside when it happened will live.
Notes:
- Villager spawning seem much rarer than it use to be in these custom presets. I've only found 2 so far.
- The sand falling in all chunks in memory will lag your game. So find a village before you trigger the gravity If you press E so the inventory is up you can do other things like surf the net while you wait for the world to finish dropping alll the sand. Newly generated chunks will not auto drop the sand either so you will have to go punch a bit more to continue it.
1;80,46,51,80,253x0;12 is a great preset to give your friends who don't know block data values. That's snow blocks, TNT, fire, and snow blocks; as soon as the world loads, the fire ignites the TNT and blows the entire planet to snowbally oblivion, most likely crashing the game in the process. Another good one is 1;12,256x0;2 which is a single layer of sand over the Void. Looks like a normal desert, seems legit (if rather boring), until a single sand block is broken by the player, by a creeper, or by an enderman, at which time the entire world falls into sandy oblivion.
I'm going to have so much fun with this! The possibilities are unlimited! Ok, so it's not sliders for a regular-ish world type, but it's precedent for that and already really fun to play with.

"Sometimes, I just wanna give up, say 'I'm done with this mess' and go to bed. But you know what; you can't shrug off your responsibilities. You got to pull yourself up and meet the challenges head on. That's the only way you're gonna get ahead in life."
Now we just need an option to spawn trees naturally and we'll be set.
Add 'decoration' and and possibly 'biome_1' at the end. Decoration is ores, trees, flowers etc. and biome_1 spawns everything pertaining to that biome(desert ruins if desert, etc.).
Now, please tell me your favorite Preset.
Water world is suicide on survival.
