I've just downloaded 1.6.1 and all three nights i've had have started with almost no mobs then zombies after zombies after zombies (at least 4 on me at all time) for the rest of the night. I'd like to know if it's a bug in the spawn mechanic that make zombies spawn way more often, if it's a feature or if I'm just THAT unlucky.
Thanks Also this happens in caves and dark places, I see zombies more often that other mobs ( like 3 to 1)
Zombies can now spawn other Zombies off screen somewhere you can't see if you damage them. They also increased their aggro range increased from 16 to 60 blocks. Zombie "reinforcements" spawn with a lower chance to spawn in more, so it doesn't go on forever.
I generally don't find any problem with this, from a hardmode standpoint. The only problem is that it doesn't scale on difficulty, in which it should.
It shouldn't be a problem to please the small minority of people whining for the game to be harder in a game with multiple difficulty levels yet Mojang consistently fails to get it right.
Want people to stop whining about how easy the game is? Make Hard mode 1 hit kill without armor (4 hits full diamond armor), and see how people shut up. Instead Mojang makes changes that affect all difficulty levels and ultimately don't make the game harder at all - just more annoying.
I haven't been back in my little minecraft world for a bit but when I heard about the updates with the horses I thought that sounded neat. So I patched and went into my game and entered into the zombie freaking apocalypse. I died four times trying to get back in time to get my armor and sword back. Then I decided to upgrade my door to an iron one once it was daylight. The zombies were burning and had disappeared from the door. So I knocked the wooden one off. A zombie appeared, in rainy daylight and brought his buddies. I dealt with them and a few spiders through the day also.
I have to agree with the above sentiments. I play to build things and try to keep the zombies out. I don't want to play on creation mode but I don't want to play on the end of stevemanity as we know it mode either. =( A hard Level for those people with huge forts, fancy armor and lots of traps who find the game too easy would be a nice improvement and a normal level for the rest of us.
This update is ridiculous. My game is on Normal and upon finding a new village today I was utterly helpless to save even a single villager. Despite my best attempts to lock the place down with fences and torches inevitably some zombies slipped in on the first night (thanks to that AI that used to be "intentionally bad" but now lets them find the most circuitous route into something even I can't spot while frantically racing around in the few minutes of daylight I have). Those few zombies turned into dozens of zombies and soon I had no less than ten zombies at a time ransacking the village at any given moment despite me being geared up for battle and actively fighting them out as hard as I could. Well, those are the zombies I could see, the ones attacking ME. There must have been two dozen others actually attacking the three remaining villagers. This isn't fun or exciting. It's just aggravating and makes the game totally borderline unplayable.
You want a zombie apocolypse? Please for the love of Pete make that an option.
It was a constant onslaught of zombies ever since Cake Defense came out. I mean, when 1.6.1 released, because it is a feature. You mean the community that always whines?*puts fence around village and lights it up*
You do understand Zombies spawn no matter what in a village.
You do understand Zombies spawn no matter what in a village.
Zombie sieges have been broken since 1.4.7. Only zombies that manually aggro Villagers can appear, making fencing ideal. Iron Golems also exist for a reason.
You can thank all the people that wanted Minecraft to be "harder"...
Zombies are crazy now.
Nah man we should make minecraft supah hahd so dat a buncha zombies spawn all ovah duh place and kill duh noobs and ya gotta have duh skillz to fight dem off and creepers should blow more stuffs up and not die.
Except that it's the same whether on easy or normal difficulty. >_>
Hard mode might as well be the normal difficulty, it was that pathetic before this update, and it still is in many ways. Zombie behavior should be scaled on difficulty, but right now it's not, and we have to either deal with it, or wait for changes.
According to Jeb during Dreamhack, Dinnerbone's been talking about a more proper hardcore mode, and more hostile mobs, so I doubt this will be the end of difficulty changes.
People need to learn about using the word "challenging"
Seriously..you cannot please everyone...People complain about it being easy, now people complain it is too difficult!
I personally like the change, it puts your Survival skills to test. It is suppose to make you think twice about going outside at night. Night time is now Dangerous! Really Dangerous! Wasn't the game always suppose to be dangerous at night. As we step our skills up, the game becomes easier for us and gets boring.
I agree the AI should be scaled on th difficulty and I know not everyone is a fan of hardcore, but it is not going to be fixed in 1 update, it's not easy to balance things out. Due to the lack of challenge before the update (my opinion), I always play on hard or Hardcore.
Edit: I decided to add on to talk about the number of zombies spawning, the lag and the annoyance.
I really am not too annoyed about the zombies itself, but I understand that the lag situation is a important one.
I did not lag much really, but of your on hardcore and you lag with a horde coming after you..You might die because of it.

Praise be to Spode.

lol/Rant/Whatever of the…!: Beyond: Two Souls is a sad/depressing game. Not like the ending of Mother 3 isn’t more sad.

The game is now actually hard.

you do not make a game hard by making it cheap.
