HELL YEAH! I swear to god, I'll be really mad if they nerf this (at least on HARD *emphasis on hard - it's supposed to be hard*) just because of people complaining on the forums...
That's what I'm saying, but there's always those people who wants to play the hardest difficulty in the game even if they can't handle it. There are also those that use servers as an argument.
It's masochistic to want at least some challenge in a game?
The current version of minecraft might be a little easy, but the new snapshot completely reverses the extreme on the difficulty-o-meter to the point where dinnerbone has turned survival mode from "Hey, have fun being" to "Hey, have fun living in complete paranoria every moment and second-guessing every decision you make in fear that you might die and lose everything."
I'm sure this lowers fps, as monsters are now scanning and path finding a vastly larger area. And they are reproducing when not being looked at. I'd imagine once your house is swarmed anyone with a bad computer will have near unplayable lag.

didnt even think of that. Honestly 1.6 is going to cause a fire storm on release if this keeps up. Horses, blocks and sounds arent worth this mess.

I think the problem here is that the game's difficulty is inconsistent. First, they add stuff that makes the game easy, people get used to that ease, but then a few updates later, they change stuff that makes the game harder and those people who are used to the game being easy rage.
And I don't think it will make people "live in complete paranoia." Armors, enchantments, and beds still exist. There's difficulties in the game so that it fits every play style. If you just want to chill and build stuff, play on peaceful or easy. If you just want to play casually, play on normal. If you want to be daring, play on hard. Hopefully, they scale these changes by difficulty.
God... ok if you are low on health and food, getting enough food to heal up is waaaaaaay harder if getting a full hunger bar is hard enough. This is why i said you need to play an exact way at first.
First off, they never made the game easier, it was always supposed to be like that.
And I don't think it will make people "live in complete paranoia." Armors, enchantments, and beds still exist.Armors don't make you as invincible as people propagate and enchantments require enchantment tables, and if you have obsidian and 5 diamonds, I'm pretty sure an enchantment table is a just a commodity There's difficulties in the game so that it fits every play style. The main problem is that in the new snapshots (and even in 1.5.2) easy is way to hard to be called "easy"
Knowing dinnerbone, however, he'll probably just make hard and normal harder and call it "fixing the difficulty imbalance"
Beds still make hard mode a walk in the park. As does buying diamond everything from villagers.
Only truely hard mode is hardcore and while only having 1 life is a part of that, the bigger part is its the only mode the difficulty can't be switched to peaceful in moments of weakness. Which imo, should be an option for new world at creation. That optionally, difficulty can be locked forever at creation.

Finding a villager with the item you want (Diamond offers aren't like clouds) for a price you can afford (usually the price for a diamond item is above 20 emeralds. By the time you get that much emerald you'll probably have what you want to buy in surplus) is very VERY rare.
Also, beds don't make the game that much easier. All it does is change night from day, it does not repel monsters from caves, it does not kill the monsters left over hanging around in the shade, all it does is stop hostile mobs from spawning on the surface.
People who complain minecraft is too hard should do terraria hardcore or something. But seriously punishing difficulty is something most mc players DONT care for.
Yes. This is awesome. I know Notch isn't inloved in the development anymore but he said that Hard should be "almost impossible" or something like that. It's not really that now. The last time I died in Hardcore was because of glitches. Mobs weren't very scary at all.
The only problem that the new snapshots present is the lack of variation between difficulties, meaning hard is the same as normal and easy.

I make my own private server so I can't change difficulty fast enough (And I never change it).
I'm almost tired of saying this, but it's a Snapshot? Maybe there will be? I mean that was just a quick b version, maybe Dinnerbone didn't have the time to balance it on lower difficulties? But yeah, I wouldn't really judge a feature based on its first Snapshot. I mean zombies spawning others was horrible but it's a little better now?
snapshots are glimpses of whats to come, and 1.6 as scheduled to be out soon. So no. Besides, if we are wrong, its fine. But if we are right and it hits 1.6 well, there will only be more drama trying to revert it later
So zombies are magic now, they spot nametags like players?
From the look of the textures they don't even have eyes.
Why not add a bloodscent mechanic, sound detection or something cool and realistic?
This isn't the kind of difficulty I would find fun, personally.
... idiots who whine about in-development features ...
Yes, people have all rights to complain (and I won't like it too) if the feature stays like that in 1.6.
No. People have the privilege of complaining *now*, before any of these nerfs are added, waiting to complain until the official release is nonsensical; I'm pretty sure that's half the reason any snapshots are released.

Ironic misrespresentation, reactionary zero value argument for the new Lapis texture. Also implies that the new texture is set in stone despite you implying people should *stop whining about snapshots*.

They didn't balance many things to difficulty level.

Make it adjustable by difficulty, everybody wins.

Honestly seeds are going to be way more important now.
Lulwut?
I said this on another topic:
