Show Me Your Thoughts On horizontal block placement.
What I was Thinking was have the same placing interface as pistons.

Would you like it if you could place half slabs sideways?
My thought: Yes becuase you could make paneling

With This What Blocks Shouldn't have this Option?
My thought: My List to not include chests, stairs,enchantmenttable,craftingtable,pumpkins,melons,ladders...

Qustion For texture pack makers: Would This Sideways block placement make you update your pack or would the game orientate it for you?

Now that we have tested out the update for almost 3 weeks do you think it has worked out well for you and have you used it?

It's already possible in 1.3 pre-release. You are able to orient logs sideways.

To see how I liked it, I played Minecraft while laying down. It was comfortable, but put a strain on my neck when looking up to see what I was doing. So, I laid on my back, and tilted the monitor so it was facing down, and glued my keyboard to a small tray able with enough room for my mouse.

After 15 minutes of playing like this, I think I took a nap.

I'm going to pretend I know what the poll means. Yes I like the new sideways log textures. It's hard to get used to having to stand above/below to place logs the old way, but once I get used to it I think it'll be worth it

My thoughts on horizonal block placement: Yes

I like it. It opens up a lot of building opportunities.

Yes, So if you know the red power mod the interface it is like that but if you don't so it will have a Heads Up Diasplay/ interface of placing blocksSo it would be the same as placing a piston

I like the option to place logs sideways, but I don't like how they are placed.
They should work like this.
If you place it on the ground or ceiling then it will be vertical. If you place it against a wall or anything thats not the ground or ceiling then it should be horizontal.

I sort of like it. It is neat that we now get horizontal logs, but it is going to be a pain in the ass trying to get used to how vertical and horizontal logs are placed.

They are placed the same way as pistons and no one complains about that i think the placement would be easy

I would want that for sideways half slabs so you could make wall paneling

I like having the ability to place logs sideways but as it is now it isn't really suited to survival mode. An easier option would be to put two logs horizontally in the crafting window to create two sideways logs. The direction they faced would be similar to how furnaces orient themselves with the light part of the log would point (horizontally) in the direction of the player.

You should tell that to people before an election.

I like the horizontal block placement, it's a small change to how you have to place blocks regularly, but worth it for the creative value.

I see what you mean so have 2 blocks one for horizontal and another for the vertical

I'm sorry but that isn't a good idea. That would effectively create possible 8 different types of logs in your inventory.

False. You can look down in survival, and you can look sideways.
I haven't used the new logs in Creative yet, only in Survival, and I have to say that they work fine how they are.

I cannot imagine why you would want a HUD or a crafting recipe or a menu or different items or any such malarky.
Why can't people appreciate the simple, working solution?

Yes I Agree With you like the way you place pistons, no one complains about that

Crafting sideways logs would be bad compared to the current piston like placement method.

The only thing I would change is perhaps holding down a button or using middle click for an alternate placement orientation. From experience, it sometimes gets annoying trying to place blocks vertically and have them go sideways or just in general getting an unwanted block orientation.
