If you had actually read my post it explains that I am a single person who has been using a laptop for over 3 years which is actually more than just 1 full year and instead of having problems I actually have a standard FPS of up to a 40 range base game, and with optifine I get a 70 range. Also my point was that it's sad that you can only say people have bad computers and that is why they can't play well even though it might have nothing to do with their computer, but you didn't try to understand what it could have been you just assumed their computer sucks and keep saying that.
TL;DR rebuttal: Singleplayer morons, stop throwing a hissy fit because you got a single problem in an unfinished version of a test feature after years of getting 90% of the attention from the developers.
In regards to that, that isn't the reason people are mad Edit: (sorry personally, I'm willing to bet others though as well). I personally don't give a crap if they decide to not fix bugs in single player as long as I can play it with current game content in single player, alone, you know without other people, doing my thing by myself without having to be logged off. I actually want them to fix multiplayer first and foremost before they work on little things in singleplayer because I play both, that doesn't automatically mean I don't want singleplayer at all in the game though.
It's not exactly infeasible, in a game with such an awful server management system.
Yes, maybe it's the pre-alpha player in me that makes me say this, but i always looked at SSP as a training ground of sorts. Once you learned how to survive in singleplayer, you go on to SMP and never look back. Especially due to the recent updates that reduce lag and glitches in SMP, it's a far superior way to play the game in nearly every aspect.
Also i'm not quite sure what you mean by an awful server management system, I rarely ever have problems with SMP at all.

I agree that SMP is more fun in certain cases. Although the issue is still there of having to search through a massive list of servers to find a good, not laggy, not over restrictive, not overly griefed server that you can enjoy. The reason I enjoy both SMP and SSP is because I can play single player when I'm in the mood to play, but not in the mood to deal with the negatives of SMP. This is why I wish they would fix SMP, leave SSP, and work on SSP after SMP is good to go. Not kill SSP entirely by merging the 2 together, which isn't actually merging it's just removing the option to play non-server.
So 1.3 SSP will be unplayable for those with low end computers, just like many of us predicted when they announced the merge... From the horses mouth:
Since single-player has been turned into a shell on top of a background server, the game’s resource requirements have increased. When playing single-player, the game needs to be able to both simulate and emulate the world, which take many more CPU cycles. We’re working on optimizing rendering, but those improvements will not be included until Minecraft 1.4.
Not like you can just upgrade your memory either... Gonna be a **** storm of posts on here when people click that upgrade button.
If you have anything younger than or at 2 years old that is at least dual core and are having issues you should look up a guide on optimizing your computer to its fullest to alleviate issues with processing power. It helps a lot for more than just Minecraft.
This is exactly what has happened, and that is why the thread is accurately named: "singleplayer is destroyed", because from a technical perspective, it is. There is now only mulitplayer. The question is, are you playing multiplayer alone or not.
All games that offer a singleplayer and multiplayer experience cater to three different groups, namely;
1) those that play multiplayer exclusively
2) those that play singleplayer exclusively
3) those that play both
These groups often have different agendas... but for some odd reason, no matter which game you investigate or where on the internet you look, if there is a group that is willing to totally deny the existance of the other two, it is always the multiplayers. For the life of me, I cannot fathom why...
Like, you would automatically be considered retarded if you asked: "what, there are people that play multiplayer?" But somehow, that never applies the other way around.
I'm aware of them killing SSP and that is why I'm arguing in defense of leaving SSP in the game, but at the same time fixing SMP as the main priority since I have no issues with SSP as it is. I'm confused as to why you are linking my post to restate to me what I'm agreeing with. .-.
if the merge and it's lag companion are the price for a mod api
i would of preferred they leave it alone and not make one (probably bad for modders) and the users
but i'd rather install mods myself (though it's annoying etc and time consuming)
because singleplayer was being optimized more and more, then the merge happened and SP feels like a stupid low end server
and no, it's not my computer nor my internet
both are not the best out there, but certainly capable of handling this game

There wouldn't even be a need for a mod api if Mojang didn't encrypt their code and change the names every update. They screw the mod community then screw us by trying to "fix" a problem they created themselves.
It's complete incompetence on their part, and it's only made worse by the idiotic fanboys who cheer them on.

Given recent discussion between mojang and mod developers, the mod api is a loooonnng way from being done.. one guy was saying months and months, another said possible within 6 months.. That tells me that it's gonna be more like 9 months for everything to work, especially since they were basically talking about pretty much rewriting minecraft.
The other thing I found interesting is that even though moders are clamoring for it, I don't think they've really thought it thru. Right now they can make money (and apparently some of them make a lot of it) thru using things like adfly for downloading their mods. With a central repository for mods/plugins, they're going to lose that.

Why would they lose that, as long as they are physically able to mod minecraft they will need to be downloaded for people to use. They can still use adfly for those downloads, it's not like because of the modding API making things 'more convenient' buildcraft and minecraft forge won't be able to be downloaded through adfly and mediafire. They have their own websites dedicated to their projects.
I have been playing the new snapshots since 24a, and have to say that this "SSP is broken" thing is getting old. I LOVE the new features. Sure, I get a little lag here and there, but these are snapshots. Little mini betas. And even still, the lag is minimal, even on my aging PC, (quad-core 3.2 AMD with 8gb ram). Besides, if you don't like the changes, no one is forcing you to upgrade from 1.25
Sorry but what's wrong with their only being one gamemode? You can still play on your own, and people can join if you allow them to. Everyone wins... right?
That's where people are unsure. Some people think that with the more resource intensive game running a server and the game at the same time they will lose playability due to lag on less powerful machines, and they don't have the money to upgrade. Others think they will optimize the coding of the game and it will actually play better on all machines than before. This is where I don't want to get involved because it's stupid to argue about the after effects of a code that isn't complete so they have no way of knowing what will happen yet. I personally though don't want a person I have in my hamachi group to access my server while I'm playing because he ruins minecraft worlds so I have a reason to want a single player game mode without a server it's not like I'm going to kick a friend from playing games with me. I'm personally mixed about always being connected to a server for my own single player gameplay, it just seems weird and unnecessary, but definitely something that should be toggle-able.
I still don't get why people are bitching about this. For Minecraft to move forward the merge needed to happen. If you don't want Minecraft to move forward, then don't update. Simple.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I use the FTB modpack, because it's fun, and extremely convenient.

Quoting doesn't have to signal disagreement or belligerence. I am offering support for your position (which is a sentiment I happen to agree with) by bolstering it with my own observations and experiences. There is not much to be confused about.
I don't know of any game, that runs singleplayer on a local server, on one machine, that does it well. Why should minecraft be the first?
I like SSP pretty much as is. New features are nice, but I would prefer if they could be put on hold, so a massive trimming of the bug list could take place. I don't mind if bugs in multiplayer are fixed. I don't even mind if bugs that only affect multiplayer are fixed. The bugs I have on top of my fix wish list are concerning bugs that are in SMP and SSP in equal measure, so I am not trying to hoard developer attention towards "my game" at the detriment of others.
I just don't like getting all the SMP bugs shoved into my SSP game. It wasn't broke, so there was no point in fixing it. The presumed "benefit" is that MODapi can happen (which is waaay off) and bugfixing will be faster (yeah, let's see about that).
Since we agree on that, why not share points of view?
Ah ok yeah, and **** yeah btw on that. That's what I've been wanting to say in my attempts at arguing on this topic not offensively (not to be confused with my obviously offensive arguing against people shoving "your computer sucks" views into every one of their posts).
I want SMP to be fixed for everyone because I know a majority or at least half of the community plays online, but why is it that the bugs that come with it have to be shoved into our game regardless of if we want to be on a server or not before they fix it to be the same as single player. Now this still has to be decided by the actual release, but they are far behind single player in regards to bug fixes at current and unless they postpone the release beyond what the community can handle it probably will end up being an official update before it's ready.
It's like how Steam forces you to be online to play any of your games even in offline mode.

No it's not. No more so than minecraft already does (you must be online to log in, no?) And no one is shoving anying onto "your game". Don't play online? PC can't handle the game anymore? Simply don't upgrade. I know it sounds shitty, and I have been there too (The Burning Crusade for WoW ran like **** on my old computer), but progress must be made.

Again, don't upgrade then. Stick with 1.2.5
