I was fine with cats jumping all over your stuff when it was raining. But the behavior is really buggy right now.
I was trying to get my cats to sit outside to guard my house from creepers. The first one began jumping on my bed. Broke my bed, everything was fine, sat the cat outside. The second cat ended up dead and my sword ended up bloody.
First, he was hopping near my jukebox, which had nothing around it that the cats are attracted to during the rain. It eventually stopped, but then it leaped on to my chest and WOULDN'T MOVE. The only thing I could do was kill it.
THIS. IS. ANNOYING. EVEN MORE ANNOYING THAN JEB SAID IT WOULD BE.

I hope this gets fixed soon.

Honestly stop whining. Easy fix, put two chests outside. Or just close the door or put the cat out. Or get rid of the cats.
No, I will not stop. And plus, this would not work. If you read what I said, even after I got rid of the items they were attracted to, they still continued to freak out. Plus, it's a bug. Bugs need to be fixed, and the devs won't know to fix those unless someone "whines".

I didn't say Jeb did it. I said he said it would be annoying.
How is this a bug when they ment to put it into the game?
i just tested cats on top of chests you can open chests without killing them while they are on top of the chest as long as you are holding a fish in your hand(if you are holding the fish they will stand up alowing you to open it).So you don't have to kill them.

Okay, every time I want to open my chest, I'll get my trusty fish out.
Not happening.
And I didn't say you had to kill them. I said I killed it because it KEPT jumping on my chest, WHICH. IS. THE. BUG!

that is wierd i just tested it and they just stood up. and i tested it both in survival and creative. They continually jump untill they are on top of the chest and it seems they can't get on top of the chest very easily when sprinting .
It's a bug because it's happening when it's not raining.

Not anywhere does it say that this behaviour was only supposed to happen when it rains. It is meant to happen rain or shine.
Maybe you should learn to read the patch notes.

If you don't want to take the easy way out and carry the damn fish (or a fishing rod, to move the cats), there are several workarounds you can apply when you place your chest. You can put ANOTHER chest on TOP of your chest, so that cats try to jump onto the top chest instead. Or, you can place an "upside-down" slab above your chest, to ensure that cats can't get on top of it.

It was actually the Bukkit guys who did this.

You're saying they meant to make it so you have to kill your cats to be able to access a chest? Yes, that sounds completely logical.

Then kill your cat and stop complaining. If you refuse to do what is needed to deal with your cat, then it is your own fault for being lazy.
