So I built a town hall and made a straight road leading from it.
Some feedback on the general look of it would be cool. Maybe I'll add in some more images of it later.
Now, other than removing all those trees, how do you think I should continue? Any city building tips?

Personally, I would change the glass to wooden stairs and blocks. But for city ideas, I would try adding stalls and houses. (Check YouTube)
I recommend "madnes64" for his YouTube tutorials. They're boss!
Building tips.
-The town hall's shape is pretty boring, make it dynamic and interesting!
-The roof is glass. That would be great if it were flat, or if it were a dome, but it's a pyramid. It doesn't look right.

Hm.. What sort of shape are you thinking of? I'm honestly not very creative with shapes. XD I'll flatten the roof though, it does look strange.
Is this a server? If it is I would help you. I have made 2 town halls for servers and 5 hotels. Im really bored at the moment so I would build a lot for you.

Unfortunately no, it's just my singleplayer world. I have no idea how to make a server work on a Mac.
Although if you have any blueprint-like files for such buildings, that would be just glorious. c:
I always liked going to Google and searching for "old cities" or "ruins".. Maybe even "circular village". Then I try reproducing them. If anything, it'll give you an idea what to do with the area instead of the single hall.
- A Church
- A farm for crops and a farm for animals
- Small houses (for the more poor people)
- Moderately sized houses (for the average person)
- Larger houses (for the quite rich)
- A very awesome house for yourself
- Food store
- Block store
- Tool store
- Resource store (resources are like coal, diamond, redstone, iron, gold, maybe dyes)
- Lumber yard, in other words, a tree farm
- Hotel
- Rail system (yes, this will be tedious but it'll be worth it)
- Watchtowers (if you want your city/town to seem like it's somewhat fortified)
- Wall to go with watchtowers (once again, fortification
- AMPLE LIGHTING - This is serious, or else you will get zombies inside your farm or something. USE GLOWSTONE or JACK O LANTERNS. These give the most possible light, unless you want to settle for netherrack, but be careful of fire, or lava, which is gonna flow everywhere unless you contain it, and also the fact that it sets things on fire.
A suggestion would be to put a grand marketplace somewhere to bundle up the majority of shops. Eases all the location planning for shops and such. I was gonna say a spleef arena, but this isn't a server, so...
First off, i suggest getting world edit if you don't have it already, as it makes building an organized thing like a city a bazillion times easier.
Second, after you clear the land with world edit or manually, building plots are a must. (make them any size you want, but i suggest 14x14.)
two very basic tips, but just be creative with it.

Well I'd love to see your other suggestions, as I'm working on clearing the trees as we speak. c:
