Well, there actually have been some nice chunk generators that were build without command blocks before 1.6 I believe... here:
As I said before, I would like to avoid an overcomplication of thousands of command blocks
As for this generator: I suggest you add a PrimedTNT, a fireball, a witherskull, or a creeper to the chain of cmd blocks b/c the command block minecarts don't look very good when they stay there.
I did happen to have tried a creeper, but the /clone command runs first and doesn't let the other command block spawn the creeper. If the creeper command block runs first, the command blocks will be destroyed before it gets to run the /clone command.
Why not simply spawn the creeper with a custom fuse length riding the cmd block minecart?
The creeper won't explode until somewhere is nearby it, and the only way to control this radius is through changing the difficulty. The difficulty doesn't change the radius drastically, so that is not a solution. We can always have PrimedTNT, but it will damage the nearby landscape. Fireballs would leave fire behind, and perhaps burn the surround trees or houses. Wither Skulls don't have a controllable explosion radius, so that is not a viable solution either.
Thanks for clearing things up! But there's still a question that hasn't been answered yet, and that is how do you check what's written inside the book? Is that some sort of NBT Tag or Data Value of minecraft:writable_book? Does every page has its own data value (or whatever else)?
The code above gives away spoilers, wonder why I changed "tree" into "oak_tree"?
It always tries to clear the player's book with the word "/generate" followed by the word "oak_tree" and then "start" on the third page. Each page is divided by a comma, and if the /clear command is run successfully, the command block will output a signal. If you were to simply the above code with something simple, you would write this:
/clear @p writable_book 0 1 {pages:["Hi!","my name is aary33!","and this is the third page!"]}
As you can see, each string is separated by a comma. The quotes are optional, I just add them to make my work feasible to read.

No..... that's not right. Wither skulls don't need to have a controllable explosion. MobGriefing off, sir.
Creepers can be blown up without stuff around them. I know there's a way.

I am fully aware of the mobGriefing game rule, that is why I considered creepers in the first place. Also, the creeper does happen to have the ExplosionRadius NBT tag on it, which allows control over the radius of explosion. The reason wither skulls are not viable, is that they can cause the Wither effect on nearby mobs. The only way to turn this off is changing the difficulty to easy or peaceful. The other problem with the wither skull is its uncontrollable explosions. Take in mind that my contraption comes with the 'populate' mode, which essentially gives the power to populate mobs. I don't want to restrict the the player by damaging their mobs.
Although witherskull explosions are uncontrollable, they're rather.. small. Besides, I think mobs suffocating from the generation of hills is quite a bit more deadly than something like witherskulls.......
I'm stating that since witherskulls riding cmdblock minecarts spawn structures anyway, the animal in proximity would be suffocated nevertheless, even if it got damaged by the witherskull. I've played around with witherskulls in a minigame I'm testing, and I'm certain of this.
Animals would die anyway without the witherskulls. Even in your example video, you spawned the structures before spawning the animals. Now, tell me how spawning structures with witherskulls at the top kills mobs when they don't exist, as they are spawned later.
Hmm; making a custom terrain generator... that seems interesting. Also, with fireballs, I believe you can simply do this to get around the fire:
fill x y z x1 y1 z1 minecraft:air 0 replace minecraft:fire

Yes, unfortunately such a command would overwrite any intentional fire in the future. I will be implementing the addition of fire in V3, either in layers or as structures.
Great news! V2 has just rolled out today! Hope you enjoy, and I'll be working on V3 as soon as possible. Thanks for your patience, V3 shouldn't take as long as V2, and it will contain much more content.
Awesome!!! I saw it on YouTube beofre I saw the forum post :D. To anyone reading this forum: go check out the video, leave a like, and subscribe!! This guy needs more popularity!

I managed to work on the project this weekend. I absolutely love it, I mean, I can't stop laughing from my creation using The Generator!
Here is a preview of the other project I was working on. Can you guess what it seems to be?
Hmm, some kind of command block CPU, with some analog circuitry?(Possibly part of an analog ALU)
On second look, maybe it's a command block/ analog calculator, with those command blocks outputting wirelessly to a display?
Nah, where's the fun in building a CPU? Those systems seem rigorous and certainly contain accomplishment, but I'm more into the field where I create mechanisms for the fun of others. What is being done here is something that others can enjoy, along with multiplayer compatibility.

(Yes, these are also strategic bumps)

This is a sample of the command I use:

There's more redstone in the back.
On second look, maybe it's a command block/ analog calculator, with those command blocks outputting wirelessly to a display?
It also appears to be activating 3 T-flip-flops on each unit which activates an undecipherable amount of redstone.

Correct!
Here's some more of the redstone.
I think I did some pretty decent designs with the new blocks if I do say so myself.
I just absolutely love the addition of never expiring items that cannot be picked up.
EDIT: Also, The Generator book will make an appearance.
