I'm thinking perhaps the design could be improved upon. If you change the position of the water and place a water source above the light and a piston below it, you could make it so that after 7 uses of bonemean the whole thing stops, the piston moves the light down, the water washes the wheat to you/a compactor, and then it starts over.
In that way you could make a system where you don't even have to touch it. You could set it up so that you just stand next to it and get a full chest of wheat.

You'd still have to replant the seeds.
Fingers crossed that they give dispensers that ability next snapshot...
Stupid question, how do you copy a stack of items in creative inventory, like in the video?
Nice vid.
1: Although it is basically the same dimension (hard to tell) mine is faster still.
3: Default is the middle mouse button but i changed it to R. Actually i never used that in the video, i did a cut and got the items i needed for the next section then continued recording. It gives the video a good pace and i don't have to dig through the inventory on camera.
I really hope they add that. Just imagine all the automation and possibilities...
Exactly why they won't add it. Mojang has already stated that they don't want to take full control from players so things like placing and destroying blocks will remain in the hands of the player.

i think i learned more from this sentence than the vid. (not saying the vid is bad, its awesome)
ummm.....wouldn't it have to be?
Nope, the bonemeal is not used when their is not a plant in front. So no, it does not waste bonemeal.

Glad you learned something
You would still need to craft them, but having a skelly spawner nearby would sure help.
