Make Jeb's door that can pass minecarts through. See the picture:
1. Closed (front)
2. Closed (back)
3. Opened (front)
4. Opened (back)
5. Alternative way for opening the upper half of the door. Or you can use yet another pistons setup.
The real challenge is to move the marked piece of rail.
I've posted the idea on the forum before. No ansver so far.
I did something more compact, but not exactly the same, but still a mine cart door. When a mine cart is approaching the door, the mine cart goes underground and it activates a redstone current to the pistons, and that closes the door. It's not a closed first, open at the current, it's a opened first close at the current.
If I wasn't so unbelievably lazy, I would get around to finishing mine, but instead I just tell people to make it when they ask for a challenge. Nobody yet has to my knowledge.

I said no torch programming. Many (most, all?) redstone computers are programmed by placing torches. What I mean is you program it by "typing" out a code with buttons, and you have a backspace and clear button as well.

Oh! I can try, but it will require signs and sticky pistons.
The computer uses something what I call block language. What it is:
It's a language that uses blocks as letters.
The thing that is low quality is that you can only use one letter per type (for now).
Make an entire house wired and automated by redstone. Have a breeding section and cooking oven that automatically loads animals in, cooks them, then flushes their product out into a bin. Have sewer systems and automatic lighting based on time of day. Make a farming system that automatically harvests. Just automate everything within the home.

The oven, possible. Sewer system, not needing redstone. Lighting, not needing redstone. Farming system, impossible.

Lighting system needs redstone. It needs to be ready without the push of a button, just turns on and off with the change of the day, without manual intervention. Farming system isn't impossible. I know people who used redstone nodes or such to detect when the crops are done. You should be able to find something to help you on the forums. But I KNOW it isn't impossible, because I've seen it on one of my friend's maps (don't have it anymore tho...).
I don't have anymore posts yet, (but I should have 1 because I only have 9 posts) or atleast not until later today, but in meaning I want the lights to come on at night. So no, using only glass won't cut it. No lights at night make no sense. Other than that, show me how to do it with only glass.

The lighting won't need redstone because you can just use glass. And I don't see how it's possible for redstone to detect if crops are done, maybe just because I don't have that type of knowledge.
its impossible to make something that detects if the crop is ready or not... However, you can make timers of 5/10/15... minutes, by using dispensers and pressure plates

Not at all, you can do it purely with redstone.

Also, just look up the farming system!
