I was planning on making a lighthouse in creative mode, and I wanted the lighthouse to have flashing lights (or at least something moving to get people's attention). Is it possible to make flashing lights? and if so, how?

Yes, you can get flashing lights. Let me draw up a quick diagram.
Ok, so this is a top down view. The bricks are redstone repeaters set to 4. The Red Wool are redstone Wires. The Stone on the right has a redstone torch attached to it. The repeaters all point in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction except that last one on the right. It points to the stone. That makes the torch light up on and off. Best you can do since they removed powered Yellow torches around beta 1.4

I wasn't able to get it to work, but I probably did it wrong anyways. Now I at least have some ideas to work with. Thanks.
How about a blink device connected to some pistons closing and revealing a series of glowstone?
Well, the trouble I am having is not knowing how to make any device repeat. How do you make the pistons (or whatever is to be used) repeat?
[About an hour later (edited comment)]: I found out one way to make a piston repeat. Just wanted to tell this discovery to see if it matches anyone's methods. I used a detector rail with a powered rail on each side angled up. This included redstone torches as power and the detector rail was connected on one side with a redstone line to a piston. With a minecart on the continuous rail system, the detector rail kept being hit by the continuous minecart, and the piston continuously activated, like the repeater I was looking for. I found out that the detector rail acts just like a pressure plate for minecarts.

Be careful when using this clock design. If you /time set, /day, go to sleep, logout/on, it has a high, high possibility of freezing the repeaters. Use a clock without repeaters such as a 5-clock (see wiki) so that they'll restart on their own (if a repeater clock gets frozen, you must remove a repeater/brick and replace it).
