I guess this guarantees that the Minecraft movie project that got cancelled on Kickstarter a short while back isn't going to make a return. I feel a bit sad for the people behind that idea, but then, it was their fault for not clearing things with Mojang ahead of time... And the Live Action / Animated mix they had going, while interesting, would have felt a bit weird and tiring for a full-length movie, in my opinion. A straight-up animated movie, using an upgraded / HD version of Minecraft's signature style throughout, might be more enjoyable to watch.
It's Hollywood. They can build anything! There was another live-action Minecraft movie in the works but it got shut down. This was the trailer:

Animation would be so much better! I don't like the realness of that.
OH MY GOD I HAD DREAMS ABOUT THIS EVER HAPPENING, I KNEW IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN, BUT THIS... OH GOD YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS my life is complete.
Honestly, the best plot I can think of this, and it's actually a pretty good idea for a plot, is this: The top secret government agency, a.k.a FishSpider Industries (sort of an easter egg to RageGaming, and you don't really need to watch RageGaming to know too much about it) was working on a project, the project's name was Project H, where they were working on Steve, giving him abilities that surpassed any human. What Steve had done was sent the world into chaos, escaping FishSpider Industries and transforming other humans into mutated creatures, which can explain the presence of the mobs. Cities were destroyed all of this, and only a few survivors remain, and the main character has to group with these survivors and hunt down Project H and kill him. Their journey takes them all over creation, reaching the abandoned FishSpider Industries building where Project H has taken refuge. There they have to face him and defeat him.
stuff to add into the movie Lewis, and Simon, and mabey Duncan, sips, sjin, etc. using equivilent to nameplates aswell as several oter famous minecrafters, and herobrine
also it could be "hardcore mode" so if one of the dies in movie their character dies for good.
they could also have it set up to have an entire custom culture, which is almost obliterated by the hostile mobs, and herobrine at the begining of the movie.
EX: village, villagers, Players who die in early movie, Revenge plot to defeat herobrine in the evil castle in the nether, Herobrine experimenting with dark magic.
What do you peoples think??
No, I mean -Minecraft- has not existed long enough for an actual movie to be any good.
Look at Lego. It's existed since the 50's. Generations of kids have grown up playing with this toy that evolves yet fundamentally remained the same over decades, time has passed long enough not only for little quips to be discovered (the pain of stepping on a lego, those annoying pieces that are stuck together, never being able to find that one piece in the box but it shows up every other time) but many other large elements you can bring into a movie.
Minecraft has only existed for a few years.
It's incredibly popular, but it's still 3-4 out of 10 people that know about the game, compared to 9 out of 10 people that have almost certainly played with Legos in their life or at least know what they are. And it's so young, there's really not all that much to go on. The closest we've come to a little quip is the META-INF folder. The main demographic is going to be a bunch of creeper hoodie-wearing 10 year olds with headset-hoodie skins trying to fit in to a highschool social structure that doesn't exist. The LEGO movie is awesome because it focuses on the nostalgia of people playing with their legos, something people of all ages identify with. It also is very diverse: There's LEGO Batman, LEGO Star Wars, Knights Kingdom, various space-themed lines, etc. Minecraft has only one theme, really: A bunch of people in the middle of nowhere building everything they want using only what they know and have. While that itself sounds like a good enough theme for a movie, it's not enough for it to feel like Minecraft.
As time goes on, and people grow up, and Minecraft gets more popular, we'll start picking up things, finding jokes to add, elements to put in, and we'll have ourselves a decent movie.

Check out Boats Evolved; the fancy huge customizable boats Notch tweeted about brought to life!
It sounds stupid, I think it'll be marketed more towards 6-12 year olds. One thing I hated about the LEGO Movie is that it was like one giant commercial for LEGO, plus it was cheesy to see something I used to enjoy turned into a movie. It's kinda embarrasing when people say "you used to like LEGO? Like the plastic bricks from that one movie made for 8 year olds?" I hope that the Minecraft movie doesn't have that kind of childish feel to it.
I really hope its animated, and I hope the storyline is fantasy, revolving around Steve, his companion (either a wolf or a pig), with the Ender Dragon as the major villain. Also, Herobrine should have a cameo/sideroll, trying to help Steve, like Notch mentioned in his tweet, forever watching, trying to warn him. Also, I think ElementAnimation should do the villagers and Steve, but Sethbling would be good as well.
What if herobrine was a good guy cameo.. Like trying to warm steve but yet sad because he is scary, and does not want to be scary and just warm steve of the end.. Thring to stop him from going to a definite doom..

Yeah, EXACTLY! That's what Notch said in a tweet, that Herobrine was good, trying to warn you of the dangers you can't see.
Well... if it DID have Herobrine in it, I do NOT want him being the community's idea of, "oh lulz herbrin evil". I want him to be what Notch directly stated him to be. A watcher, guarding over the Player.
If they have Villagers in the movie, I seriously want the guy from this video to voice them. Steve could be voiced by Willow Smith for all I care (not really, that would suck), but this guy NEEDS to voice the villagers.
Also, I'm not saying that I think they will, but Warner Bros. had better not mess it up like Disney did with the Super Mario Bros. movie. It was probably the worst movie I had ever seen, and that's coming from a Super Mario fan.

Agreed! I hope Slamacow helps if the movie is going to be animated

I wouldn't. Minecraft is still very new; it's not old enough to warrant a movie. I explained this in an earlier post:
If you need help deciding what computer to buy for Minecraft, I'll help!
I play Kingdom Hearts. I KNOW that ridiculous can be amazing.
Also, on the topic of Legos, does anyone else miss Exo-Force? The giant mech things and minifigures with anime eyes?
I say; What is science, but magic that has been explained?
The Exo-Force was pretty awesome. I still have some parts of the mechs and characters lying around in my LEGO bins somewhere.

Also, please, NO YOUTUBERS.
