I think that you could pay a small fee (like $1, for example) to change your username.
Then to solve the problem of banning, each account gets its own specific ID number. It could be like an IP, but for your account. Then the ID # would get banned.
I believe this would be a good feature since i really dispise my username at the moment. Usercurrently:jaxon0212 New:RaineCloud
You can not name any cons yet because we have not gotten there yet. Lets test it(if it comes out), Thsn name cons.
I'm going to list my protest against the possibility of Name changing, at least don't allow people to change their name to legacy account names. I actually hold the account name of fire, and it is my in-game name as well, because of this, its frequently used by hacked clients to grief multiple servers, I'm banned permanently by Thousands of independent servers or servers managed by MCBAN, almost none of these servers have been visited by myself personally I fear that allowing anyone to change their name to any name they please on a per server basis would only accentuate the problem.
nNa: I'm pretty sure it would be really annoying in the middle of the night when you are walking around your courtyard in the castle and an army of skeletons shoots arrows over the wall.
Guess it's good for those that want it, I won't ever use it but...
That's another thing, how will this affect whitelist? Will there be a little unique unchangeable yet invisible account number at the end of it that you see so many other games doing? Ex: Prettyfulangel.2353
Well, this might cause lot of problems!
Bans, got banned change your name....
My suggestion is, everyone has unique id, from this id you get banned/OPed etc... Username can be changed any time.
Actually thats a good idea! Every player gets an id for there account and when you ban a player on a server it bans there id so even when they change there name they can't access the server that there banned in :3
I think this is a great idea. Mostly because I dread by boring username, rem628. Plus, I know a lot of people who didn't know that their username would show up as their in-game name as well. This would make a lot of people happy, that's for sure.
Why I want to change my name is because I made my account before I paid for it & I didn't want that name so I tried to delete my account but there is no way to delete your account.
This is an awful idea. 1. It will make it so servers moderators cant ban people 2. It will be confusing to recognize. It will just bring a WHOLE new level of griefing

I see a problem.
Some people who you know well over Minecraft, know you're username, and then you change it? It would be confusing.
Another example is if you were part of Server Staff, and then you changed your username, fellow staff wouldn't know who you were, and you may get demoted.
Though I am sick of my username, I don't want this to happen. I wouldn't know who my friends were, and who isn't my friend.
If you want to "change" your Minecraft username, it would cause confusion throughout the MC servers.
If you're sick of your username, just purchase another account. But that would also cause problems for many, because a lot of Minecraft players are under the age of credit cards, and would not be able to buy them without their parents help. And often, parents would see this a waste of money and would not allow a second account.

Is it REALLY that hard to tell someone you're changing your username in advance? And how many people ACTUALLY want to change their username? I'm fine with mine. I doubt that many people would go and randomly change their username over and over.
The only legitimate problem I can see is impersonating others.

Smart idea, Jeb.
