They keep breaking mods, its getting seriously ridiculous. More and more modders are quitting, and mods are essentially whats keeping Minecraft alive at this point. Mojang doesn't do ANYTHING original with their work. As for the every two weeks thing, sorry, I am atrocious with time, and I was exaggerating on top of my bad time keeping.
sort of true. I don't know that I'm going to bother with updating stuff for 1.7.
as someone who uses mods, you are overestimating how many people actually use or care about them. So though mojang may or may not be driving modders away, they'll do just fine without them (and there will always be new ones)
Honestly, for every update they release, they get more subs/accounts. More and more people are playing the game, which generally means, more bug posts, which generally means, more updates, fixes and additional features with the game. You're also making it sound like modders have to update their stuff immediately regardless of their situation/time constraints. Let's look at RedPower for example, that mod hasn't been updated since 1.4.6/1.4.7, people are still playing 1.4.6/1.4.7 because of that mod. The whole reason why Eloraam isn't updating immediately is because she has IRL things to take of first, plus, not to mention, the whole "greed" with mods and this game has basically turned her away from updating the mod as well (as what i got from her blog post a while ago). People need to stop feeling so damn entitled to things around here.
That's my $0.02 anyways.
Now back on topic, the 1.7 update looks awesome! So much new content added! Can't wait til the release! I especially like the "secret settings", haha.
P.S: I noticed someone a few pages back whining about stained glass, that was requested WAY back in beta, BEFORE any of those mods added it in. Seems like that person is confused who's work is "original". Makes me happy they finally added it.
IRL things to take care of, yeah right. Direct quote from Eloraam's twitter, " I was hoping to have a big announcement by now, but things are taking more time than I expected. Who's bright idea was DOTA anyway?" She basically quit, so if people stay on 1.4.7 for Redpower 2, that's on them. And don't call me confused, Minefactory Reloaded and Forestry both already have stained glass, along with fancy glass, and any other number of mods that already added it because Mojang decided they didn't want to do it right now. Mojang still doesn't come up with their own ideas, and you still haven't proven anything. Also, what data do you have that proves more people are playing?
As for entitled, I never said modders need to keep modding, I'm saying that Mojang should do things a bit more practically, there doesn't need to be so many updates so fast.
can anyone help me? put a download link to the snapshot i try to update it says "An update to your launcher is available and is required to play 1.7. Please restart your launcher." so i do and it still says "An update to your launcher is available and is required to play 1.7. Please restart your launcher."
You don't just restart it, instead go to minecraft.net and redownload the launcher. That should update it or fix it.
Hey Anybody notice that Grumm is a cow in this picture? Just me? ok.
Still annoyed that they aren't releasing this at Minecon. I mean, what's the main theme going to be? Every one before this has had some form of update related to it (More or less).
Until then I'll keep wishing for cart linking/less pointless powered carts....

I think you might have the very old launcher try going here: https://minecraft.net/download and download the updated exe file. If that doesn't work try going to your .minecraft directory and deleting everything except your saved worlds and resource packs.
I lower the fps only. everything else I leave as the default settings. So that is the answer 60fps, and default the other settings! I don't care for mods, the vanilla MC is cool enough anyhoo!
Yeah 60 FPS is the sweet spot, most people can't even tell the difference if it's set any higher than 60 FPS, most standard (Non-3D enabled) PC monitors can't even display more than 60 FPS anyway.

I'm actually happy about that. Instead of them talking about what update they have already done or are currently working on they can talk about what they are going to do next. Hell maybe they will announce the official mod API release date or finally give us the ability to animate paintings.

Well If I get the chance to meet Jeb, all I will say to him is "Minecarts... Think about the Minecarts..."
Well lets see, where to start. Now keep in mind I am taking all this in as a server owner of a modded server and a vanilla server owner. Amplified: well MC runs terribly right now so lets make a mode that requires a super-computer! Pretty bad when your PC gets better FPS in BF3 than it does a voxel based game. Less ocean: hardly ever found any anyway. New wood colors, stained glass, and new flowers!: Seriously? New flowers? How about a quarry? stained glass and new wood types, totally not a ripoff of BOP and galacticraft or anything. Fishing: really just really............ Try adding some actual features........ Anybody remember the days of when they added things like pistons? Yea well now they add flowers and wood colors. Maps less lag: meaning the same or more right? last time I heard that it got worse. Server-wide achievements: words can't even........ I really don't care about those and I know no one who actually does. So now the servers get to be spammed with them! Resource packs: for the love of god. just do the "plugin api" already. you know the one thats been promised since 1.0? that a lighting rewrite so the game might actually run well without a 150$ dedicated card and a 4 core cpu,8gb ram. Built in shaders: No. not just no but HELL NO. I mean you need a 250$ video card, a monster cpu and at least 8gb of ram to run the game with 10 mods............ gg mojang. Lets make it run worse now! I am looking forward to the rewrote sound and networking because they were terrible.
You complain so much and you don't even have all the facts.
MC is not a voxcel game.
It's not Mojangs fault if you tell your software to do more than your hardware can handle, If MC is not running properly after you install mods It's your fault for installing more mods than your PC can handle.
New wood was added because they added new trees for the new biomes. That is clearly the right choice since otherwise we would be getting oak wood from savanna trees.
You commend pistons but then immediately bash on mojang for implementing some features that another mod already has. Pistons had a mod before Mojang added their own version and that mod was better in some ways. So you just contradicted yourself.
I'm not going to waste more of my time correcting you. Next time before you complain please take a second to think and research at least a little.
The next update looks amazing for info about how to craft stuff for the new update following me on instagramminecraft_recipesI meant minecraft_recipes forgot to put the space xD

The thing is though, the game is running *really* badly in some cases even for those with absolute monster PCs. Mine is one of those, and the game REFUSES to even go beyond a render distance of 8, for no apparent reason. Either that or it's not loading chunks beyond a distance of 8; it's very hard to tell what the problem is. This is ONLY in the 1.7 stuffs, too. 1.6.4 works just fine, as the distance is concerned.
And this machine of mine is an ultra-expensive gaming rig; it'll run anything at max settings no matter what, PERIOD. And it'll run them smoothly.
Minecraft though.... as much as I love it, it seriously sometimes feels like it's not so much buggy, but is in fact just one giant bug. It's the only thing on this machine that's actually capable of getting wonky in terms of how it's running, despite the fact that it's not going even CLOSE to as far as other games in the technical side of things. And as is always the case with Mojang, things like this do not get fixed fast, if at all. They're not very good at bug-stomping, never were.
Normally I like to use the snapshots and all, but not this time. First time ever, I've entirely stopped with them, and likely wont go anywhere within a thousand miles of 1.7 until Optifine is updated, as likely that's going to be the ONLY way to fix this for a very long time.
Awh, man. Seriously? Your map is the only one I use, because of the teleport-to-waypoints feature. Le sad.
If I understand you correctly I think you can already do that in vanilla. Just use the command (/tp @p x y z) in command-block to teleport to a set location, It's awesome, especially for when the inside of a building needs to be larger then the outside (Not a doctor who reference)

You can, yes, but that's such a pain in the ass. On VoxelMap/Zan's Minimap, you set your waypoint, like you do in REI's or whatever, and then you can pull up a menu that shows all of your waypoints, click on one, and go there. It's a great tool, and I love it, but I can totally understand the frustration with not wanting to update it. I've tried my hand at modding, and the hoops you have to jump through every time Minecraft updates was enough to put me off ever finishing mine at all.

If you are running vanilla MC and having problems on atleast decent hardware it is understandable to be upset, I can agree with you there. What's not understandable is when someone gets upset at mojang for problems they experience after loading a mod that is not even made by mojang to begin with. Some mods are poorly coded or even need way more resources then the average user can spare. As of right now it's up to the user to find those things out not mojang.
You prob already know this but even if you have good hardware its a bad idea to max out the FPS unless you don't care about your render distance. And if you really do have a awesome PC try increasing the amount of ram MC can use in the Profile Editor a try. I use "JVM Arguments: -Xmx10G -Xms10G" since I have 16GB and 6GB is already over kill for all for all my back ground apps.

Also ask him when we can expect to get Spawners in (non modded) creative that can Spawn more than just pigs.

The last two snapshots have had the randome 2 x 2 water source?
not to mention the
13W43A Snapshot
Had a random quote saying "
Just some speculation here..though I see something in this..
not to mention the red..golum thing in the various snapshot photos.
