It would also appear that Savanna biomes have been added. They have desert-coloured grass with a few plain oak trees scattered around, as well as unique flat-topped trees made of jungle wood and oak leaves.
Found a cool little thing! When hitting zombies with swords you get the sharpness partials.
Yeah... Happens with any mob, and any item in hand (Even without items). I'm sure that this is a bug OR a place holder for new punching particles. (Yay !)

"Love as a principle and order as the basis; progress as the goal"
So far, I've found a bunch of new plants/flowers, what looks like a proper, actual mountain (with snow on top!), and THE SPRINT BUTTON.
This update is already quite good by my measure. All 3 of those are things I've wanted to see in here for awhile. Particularly the sprint button.
Not gonna read the full notes on this one yet, going to find these for myself for once.
EDIT: Ye gods! I just tried that "amplified" thing too, in the worldgen. Just.... what.... wow. Wow. "just for fun"? Really? No, I think alot of players are going to absolutely LOVE this new option, provided their particular PCs can handle it without imploding.
Just.... holy crap. Even most mods that affect worldgen dont come out this epic. The best part of it though of course is that it DOESNT involve any mods.
Oh, they'll still have crap to complain about! They will!!! They'll show you...they'll show you ALL! Mwa ha ha haaa!!!
Ahem, anyway...I really like this snapshot! There's so much good to talk about, that I can only bother with the negatives.
I'm disappointed that the new trees (except for the mega spruce) don't have their own wood. However, I'm not worried about this because it is only the first snapshot.
I kind of wish snorkling potions were brewed out of gills or something, but whatever.
The Birch Forest probably should just be a sub biome of the (Deciduous) Forest. The fact that it has a different coloured grass suggests that it is its only biome, which annoys me. Reason being that it seems like such a specific biome. Birch Forest. Only birches. That's the type of ecosystem you find within (Deciduous) Forests anyway.
Extreme Hills, just for the sake of people shutting up about them and realism, should be renamed to Alpines.
The world is still too...well, short. There's 255 layers, but only 128 are really used. I reckon in the future, the sea level should be raised to layer 96 (allowing for more layers for mining, much larger caverns and deeper oceans). Clouds should then be raised to layer 224 (I personally think the clouds would be more out of the way if they were much higher up). Then, mountains should be raised to be much higher (But only Alpines should go higher than the clouds). Then (Aren't I a demanding person?), the layers at which snow falls should be raised, because seeing snow not-that-much-higher than the rest of the world is off-putting.
I'd love to see rivers generate across multiple layers, instead of each river always be at the same layer.
I'd also love to see the Chaparral biome added. You know, the kind of biome you find around the west coast of the Americas (and Western Australia, coast of the Mediterranean and parts of South Africa). It has large rolling hills, dull green grass and lots of shrubs.
The particles upon landing are strangely coded. Instead of appearing exactly where the player landed, they form on the middle of the block that the player landed on, leading to the particles appearing out-of-place most of the time.
Right, that's enough rambling for today. Overall, amazing performance by Mojang. You guys are awesome!!!
The lack of giant trees is still painful. The forest is not a forest if you can clearly see daylight and forests are not made out of 4-7 meter high trees. Take a look at few seconds of this old clip and admire how real forests should be generated
Also replacing ocean floor with 100% gravel is not enough, rivers and lakes still have the most ugliest ocean floors ever existed in this universe (I don't know how uglier it can get). It desperately needs to be rewritten to generate smooth sand edges, paths of gravel and dirt.
I don't see anything about this on the Wiki, but I can confirm that mountains can generate above level 128 now. I just found a mountain that peaks at level 132, and it's on just regular world gen.
Loaded a new world, went to the nether and found:-
3 separate fortresses not too far from each other, but not connected (wide spaces between them) either.
Within them I found horse armour, 7 gold, 14 iron 5 diamond, 7 saddles, 6 gold swords, 5 gold body armour, 3 flint and steel, 56 gold ingots, 32 iron ingots and 64+ nether wart!
most people don't want to go through 28 pages to find out if someone wrote something
Fortunately, there's a search box at the top of every page. If you think you've found something "new" (which is unlikely as of page 29), you can search just this topic for the very thing you think you've found.
I'm amazed at how many people have posted something like:
"I noticed that nobody mentioned the new volume controls settings..."
Try searching This Topic for "volume" and guess what you'll notice..
I'm searching the new sounds, but I can't find anything. The sounds appears to be the usual sounds, like minecarts, endermen... But slow down (Is it correctly said?)
yes the sounds are slowed down, sorry i seem to have forgot to mention that. I'm in high hopes this "super secret setting" will be a mod list and 1.7 is going to be the Mod API update... but thats just wishful thinking
also i know this has been said a few times but I'm almost positive the AMPLIFIED game mode uses cubic chunks instead of regular chunks, cause don't normal chunks load the entire vertical section? I'm pretty sure in AMPLIFIED i found random squares that weren't loaded yet
so i have seen quite a few of the new biomes like extreme hills+, extreme hills+ m, roofed forest, deep ocean, savanna and the sunflower plains but i have read about alot more so i hope to see those soon
Amplifier says that you need a beefy computer to use it right? But whenI used amplifier on a really old Mac and it was smooth even with render distance on far, graphics on fancy and all particles on!

All of that was added in 1.6
Bugs so far:
Water is opaque.
Search in creative is broken.

I suggest adding aspects from biomes o plenty mod
it is a really good mod
