Seriously guys are you not listening or are you believing everything notch says.
Its not Bethseda, its their F***ING LAYERS! so you can stop trolling bethseda because i bet in a week or so time the guys at bethseda would've called it off.
Personally even if they got money out of mojang, that wouldn't affect me buying skyrim.
BTW: Bethseda PUBLISH the game, a different studio makes the game (2K games and Bethseda SOFTWORKS)
So you can stop trolling bethseda for that reason aswell noobs.
If your gonna hate learn about this before you post dumb and childish comments!!!!
My apologies sir, but you have failed. Bethesda is both a publisher (Bethesda Softworks) and a game developer (Bethesda Game Studios). The Elder Scrolls game is developed entirely within the Bethesda Game Studios.
Also, as it has been said, BethSoft and Bethesda Game Studios are both subsidiaries of ZeniMax Media Company. It is extremely likely that it is ZeniMax who made the decision, not the fine people at Bethesda.
For all of you who are saying that it was the lawyers sueing Mojang, you are way out of line. Like user matty123456, you should be banned from this site. Stop defending Bethesda, they can defend themselves. Anyway, lawyers cannot sue in the name of the company they work for without the company's permission, to do so is a violation of law.
To others who think this sueing thing is ridiculous, I am with you. Sueing over part of a name is unethical. However, if Mojang were to use a name parody, like Younger Scrolls or Scrolls of the Elders, then Bethesda has every right to sue. It is like Apple. People say that they own the rights to the letter "i." This is false. They own the rights to putting a lowercase "i" in as a prefix to the name of a product. So if I were to make something awesome and the call it the iAwesome, Apple could sue me.
And for those of you agreeing with Bethesda, **** off and play a different game. Those of you like sarus92 that think Mojang should leave gaming to the big dogs, remember that all "big dogs" were once little pups, like Mojang, and didn't have many more than a few games.
For those of you who agree, spread this around and let others know of their stupidity.

this is the stupidest thing i have ever heard. are you kidding? lets go count all the other games with scroll in the title(i'm too lazy to actually do that but there is most likely alot). you dont own the word "scrolls". They are just afraid that because Mojang sells Minecraft, the best game ever, that more people would buy that instead. If you don't look at it that way how about this, you are wasteing money for rights to a word when you could be using to make your game better. I just do not get it.

Well said. However, unfortunately, this will probably not stop the endless flow of idiotic posts.
Wow, Notch said Mojang were going to sign copyright to their new game "Scrolls" and the creators of "Elder Scrolls" didn't like the idea. "A while later, out of the blue, we got contacted by Bethesda’s lawyers. They wanted to know more about the “Scrolls” trademark we were applying for, and claimed it conflicted with their existing trademark “The Elder Scrolls”. " as said by Notch in his tweet.

Will anyone actually name at least 5 games with the word "scrolls" in the title for me, please!?
They said it isn't directly Bethesda, its purely their lawyers being lawyers. I hate lawyers.....
As the one guy said above me, it isn't just the lawyers, they can't do that, they are merely tools to carry out the lawsuit, that is like blaming the disc makers for making a bad game. Tt is probably ZeniMax Media who made the decision, the bosses of Bethesda.
Stop suing him because you couldn't make a game even beter them WurmOnline so shut up and let him work in peace!
(and if you dont know Wurm it is a game that notch helped to develop)
bethesda has done retarded stuff before (AKA the paintbrush thing in oblivion) but this is TOO MUCH! we shall have to tell them in a gentle manner about this matter... WHAT THE HELL BETHESDA! YOU DONT OWN THE WORD SCROLLS! ENOUGH OF THIS BULL! BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH...
Stop suing him because you couldn't make a game even beter them WurmOnline so shut up and let him work in peace!

That's unreasonable, untrue, and you are basically insulting Wurm.

Wow, I feel compelled to reply to these stupid posts. Oh well.
Umm... Bethesda (who probably didn't make the decision to sue) has made amazing games like Fallout 3, TES 1-4 (soon to be 5)... ok that is all I have played but those are better than whatever the hell WurmOnline is.
P.S: I have great respect for both Bethesda Game Studios and Mojang/Notch.

Name some games for me, please. Just curious.

I think some of the 12 year-olds here believe that every game is developed by one or two people. :blink.gif:
P.S.: Bethesda Game Studios have 100+ people on the dev team.

It's purely Bethesda allowing them to sue, because they agree with their lawyers. So it is directly them.
