I'm just asking out of curiousity, because I honestly don't know, but, break how?
I am using Misa's right now and so far I haven't seen anything out of the ordinary.
Of course, there might be subtle details in the textures with connected textures that aren't in use right now, because we don't have Optifine yet, but I'm honestly not seeing that, it looks fine to me.
EDIT: I had a few reasons I checked on myself to tell you, but then I scrapped that when I realized Misa herself made a statement on the problems the texture pack change has caused.
I've known about and have been dreading this for months. Today I finally got a taste of it and it's pretty depressing. The converter Dinnerbone put out last time there was a major format change was completely worthless for any texture pack that had advanced features such as mine. The one put out this time is no different. Literally half of my pack (going by filesize) is excluded from the new filesystem. So yeah, a third party converter will once again be needed or texture pack artists will just have a ton of work they have to do by hand.
Oh, did I mention that in order to make texture packs now, you need to understand some programming language or constantly rely on third party conversion tools to add new features? I'm sure all the artists out there are gonna love ensuring they have the right amount of brackets and commas just to get something to animate the way they want it to. And given the amount of files we have to work with now for complete texture packs, troubleshooting's gonna be a bitch.
And of course all the advanced features are currently dead. To say this update will be a hard time for texture pack artists is a gross understatement. It's still a bit early, but where things currently stand, the future of texture pack authorship looks horribly convoluted and obnoxious. I also definitely don't envy Kahr's job right now. : /
Other than that there are the things that are extremely popular among texture packs, connected texture mods. In Mojokraft, two slabs on top of each other results in a different texture entirely from one full block of the same exact material. Windows being a continuous pane of glass instead of individual panels also relies on this, if I'm not mistaken.
I also am unsure whether resource packs properly function with better skies, but they very well could. I really enjoy having a custom moon, sun, and stars texture set myself.
Misa's texture pack is very incomplete without the aid of Optifine or MCPatcher, due to custom animations of mobs and items, CTM support, and better skies, among other things. You may not have noticed, but to those of us who do notice, it's very dissappointing to see how little resources packs actually, currently support.
Really, CTM needs some love. And I sure hope it gets it. Personal opinion it may be, but I honestly believe CTM is what MAKES a good deal of the texture packs I truly enjoy, so yeah.
Its funny because you can still use a texturepack without using the resource pack converter by simply replacing the vanilla textures, assuming that the new textures are still in the same alignment in the files.

It's funny because that disallows a whole ton of patcher features like CTM, Custom Colours, and Randomobs, just to name a few.
There is a bug with the new snapshot. When I open the launcher, the version is on (Default) and that is the only choice. I cannot go back to 1.5.2 or any older versions.
P.S: (Deafult) is set as the newest snapshot. I think.
Even if they did, you'd whine that something was broken and should be fixed.
I agree with you, but the things he said would not be that hard to put in. I mean the crossbow would just be a huffed version of a bow with long time to pull back (due to reload)

This is known - work around is - when you start the launcher select "profile editor" tab and you can either create a new profile or change the current profile. easiest is to double click on the default profile and then change the version you want to start with, click "save profile" then click play.
Other option is to select "Profile editor" and then right click and create a new profile with the version you want as the start version and you can then save it and have another option at the drop down other than default
Please Note - A new launcher has just landed 0.9.3 (no idea what is changed) but the above seems to still apply
I think that the horses are too in depth for 1.6. COmpared to the other farm animals, sheep, chickens, pigs, and cows, horses are going to be wayyyy too focused on. I mean they have their own inventory, 3D saddles, 3D animations, chest storage, an age system (which other mobs need) and about 5 different breeds. I'm not saying that this is bad, but the are going to make other Minecraft mobs seem like ants.
I disagree with that post; Ants are some of the most complicated (and coolest) creatures on Earth.
ATTENTION: HOW TO EDIT SOUNDS...(spur of the moment guide so bear with me)
After converting the texture pack that I made into a new resource pack, I went into the .minecraft folder and found the assets folder.
I then copied the sound file found inside into my new resource pack (copied into the new assets folder)
With the sound folder in place, you can go in and edit the sounds to whatever you want using any program that can save as an .ogg file (I use mixcraft 5) make sure the file names are correct. I replaced zombie noises with the sounds of Goblins from Might & Magic 6.
BUG! When shooting arrows (I was at the wither) sometimes the arrow doesn't hit anything and falls like it hit something (and for me I have to hold down WASD keys harder)
I created this "Old Sounds" Resource pack about 10 minutes after the snapshot went live. I noticed some people asking for this and I don't know where else to post it until a Resource Pack subforum is created, so here you go:

Well, guess I was right then. That's the first thing I thought of when I read resource pack. Thanks.
(Bye Bye textures yet again. XD)
