I love the fact that Mojang is working so hard to make this update the best ever. Although i am very impaitent the fact that i had been waiting for 1.3 for almost 2 monthes, i am gald they are doing a lot of testing.
It's good to see that Mojang are taking notice of peoples wishes for Improved Performance.
Mojang does not believe that performance is not an issue. It's probably #1 on their list. You can't just go in and "improve performance" the same way you can add a mob or change a texture. They're doing what they can at the pace they can do it, and have been for quite some time.
Its strange how Mojang gives more options to the mob spwaners, but they doesnt give us the way to obtain the actual spawner without mods isnt it?
That's how snapshots work. Features are not fully implemented because they don't finish stuff up before they release it. They just put the product up as-is. Last snapshot had stairs you couldn't craft. This one has spawners you can't place.
Ok I found a bug. I was playing with last week's snapshot and built one of CNB's 3x3 piston doors, as shown here:
And it worked great! Exactly as advertised. But today when I updated to the new snapshot, the door no longer works. The center piston no longer reaches up to grab the block in the middle. I've tried rebuilding the entire mechanism from scratch and it does the same thing.
SO, there is a redstone timing bug in there somewhere! Or a piston bug! OR something!
Eh, there is a Spawner GUI mod. I forgot who made it. I think it was Risu but I'm not sure at the moment. It basically let's you right click on a spawner and choose what it spawns. Pretty neat.
I never really used the sand duplication bug, so that doesn't matter to me...
But performance improvement? Now THAT'S music to my ears! Also, what did they mean by "Green Robe Villagers"? As far as I know, no default textures for the villagers have green robes.
These improved spawners will make custom maps a LOT more interesting. It'll allow mappers to make true RPG-like maps with the custom trades.
And that arrow on the map item really annoyed me for a while, because it thought I was moving diagonally when I really wasn't. It's nice to see that fixed.
In any case, this recent pattern of bug fixing snapshots proves that 1.3 is definitely close. How long has it been since 1.2.5 came out? Four months, maybe more.

Guess what I'm not clicking on?

I would assume that the mob spawner editing support would be on 1.3, but I am fairly disappointed with the 6 sided piston glitch being fixed. It's one of my favorites.

It's for making charged creeper spawners and enderan spawners holding certain blocks. As well you can edit the delays between spawns.

Try this: /give 52 64. All this requires is cheats being allowed.

It also says "Done loading" but nothing happens
Any idea why this happenss?
That only gives you a default pig spawner. It's rather disappointing.
"whatever you do don't die"
You didn't put the minecraft.jar in the right place. Make sure it is in you "bin" folder.
The best way to edit the spawners is with NBTedit
