BLURAGBLURIGRGBLAURGHBLURGH REDSTONE UPDATE ITS TAKING TOO MUCH TO LAUNCH D: its gonna launch this week, but when?!?! DX i dont care pi edition, pocket editions, xbox edition or even classic edition, just give me my tnt minecart, my hopper, my redstone block and my other redstone things D:
I love how they get defensive about the Pi right off the bat, even though they're trying to promote it and nobody has said anything yet. That's never a good sign. Especially considering the only positive thing they've got to say about it is that its "surprisingly robust", and honestly, all things considered, it could probably qualify as "surprisingly robust" simply by breaking on the fifth time you drop it instead of the first, and robustness does not a functional computer make.
Anyone want to place bets on how long it'll take for the novelty of the technology to wear off and for people to realize that a credit-card sized computer is a pretty dumb idea?
I mean yeah, its kinda cool that they can make a credit-card sized computer, but just because you can doesn't mean you should, not to mention the pressing question of why you would even want to.

You can use these for much more than just a fun little computer.
I know someone who hooked up their RaspberryPi as a complex alarm clock. Yes, most people will probably just get the RaspberryPi because they think its cool to have a credit card sized computer, but there is much more potential behind these little boards. I use mine just for coding simple games, and I am thinking of ordering another Pi to use in a automatic window blinds opener/closer. Also, you said "why would you even make a credit card sized computer?" The answer to that is that now people can buy a cheap, compact, computer that can be used in MANY ways. It isn't made to be used as a home computer, it is made for programmers/engineers. I don't even see why people would buy one of these JUST to have one. Seems kind of idiotic. So I do agree with you, because I also think the popularity will die down eventually. People will get over the fact that we can make computers this small. But I disagree with you also, because I think these are much more than just "credit card computers", I think they are the beginning of a new age in electronics. Also, the makers did not only make these computers because they can, but because they had a great idea. The idea was to introduce these little machines, so that more people would have opportunities to do things they couldn't do before.
P.S. I hope this doesn't start an argument. Just expressing an opinion.
When I first found out about the Raspberry Pi. I was wanting one because of all the stuff you can do with it. I want one even more now that we can play Minecraft on it. :-D
PS: Raspberry Pi + USB Bluetooth + Linux OS + 2 LEGO NXT Robots. = FUN!
Not until they come out with the Minecraft ( 4 |< 3 edition
