I would just like to point out that the whole reason why this pre-release is out is so the modders, texturers, mappers, servers, and plugins can start updating right now, rather than the 24th. So lots of the mods, etc will be updated a few days after the 'official' release, which you guys should be waiting for if you want your mods now.
Most mods must wait for mod loader or forge to update first anyway. The prerelease is to find bugs before the official release.

Chuck Jones?!
NO. He did the other (late), worse (in my opinion) series of Tom and Jerry.
The real men behind this were William Hanna and Joseph Barbera...
That's not what he's best known for. Chuck Jones worked for Warner Brothers ; he did a lot of the most famous Bugs Bunny cartoons, and (most relevant to the subject of falling anvils) created the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote characters.

um.... thats exactly my point........ Its for mod loader and forge to update quicker...... and alot of other mods too....
The pre release is for bug finding and for mods to catch up..

If there isn't one already, there should be an achievement for hitting either a wolf or a chicken with a falling anvil.
What reason now targeting specially to this part? Already weeks ago has been know that Mod API will not part of 1.4 release. Mod API required very cerefully creating because it will be hard modified later when lot mods will base at it stability. What changes in world from delay of Mod API in any cases? Modders will creating mods in old way base at own hack code or base at forge mod API. So what problem? Just pointless waving...
This was my attempt at being satirical, because they stated Mod API would be released at 1.0 even though then haven't started serious work on it until 1.4.

Everything is amazing, just the new bat sounds are really annoying. Please change it to something else or make them spawn less . But anyway the new update is AWESOME like the 1.3!

For the life of me I don't understand why so many people are complaining about the API. Somehow there is this strange notion that Jeb can take Minecraft Forge or ModLoader, throw it into the game "officially", and be done with the API... or perhaps that somehow these wizards can somehow open a portal to what Minecraft will be 15 years into the future and take the API system that will exist... then... and implement that today.
I'll say it again: those who complain about the lack of an API are people who are simply craven idiots or clueless among the Minecraft fans as they don't even have a damn clue as to what an API even is. Yes I'll be blunt about this too! By clueless I mean they don't even know the first thing about what a proper API will even require, how hard it is to implement, or for that matter they likely have never taken a programming course in their life of any kind... including something simple like learning how to program in Scratch.
It is pissing me off to see these kind of statements and derision made upon the Mojang staff claiming that this is something which should be complete and it is only because of the lazyness of Jeb and the rest of the Mojang development team that the API hasn't been implemented yet. That sentiment couldn't be further from the truth.
The real fact is that Jeb realized adding an API properly into Minecraft would take a whole lot more work than he originally anticipated, and that some significant things needed to happen in Minecraft first before it was implemented. That has been happening, and it should be noted that Mojang is not just adding fluff and rainbows into the game, but doing some very real basic structural changes that have been long overdue. Much of these changes are in preparation for what the Minecraft dev team knows will be necessary when the API will be released.
This takes time to develop, and right now Mojang still has an incredibly small development compared to the expectations of many players who are used to companies like Electronic Arts who employ thousands of developers to accomplish the same kind of tasks. Heck, these same folks complaining are pissed that Jeb bothered to take a much needed vacation where he mostly stopped developing Minecraft for awhile.
Bethesda releases updates for Skyrim on PS3 faster than Mojang can release the API. WOW. So my tactic for Minecraft is to completely forget about it for a few years then when I finally do remember it, I'll look it up and be disappointed that there isn't an API one last time before never thinking of it again. The only reason I check these sites is for the API bc Minecraft is too simple and boring without mods. I know i'm not the only one to think this because i was the last of my friends still waiting for the API. Good luck Mojang, and to the people waiting for the API, save your time or try making one yourself if thats possible because your time is worth more than this.
Um.... did I miss something about the animals not following you if you hold wheat anymore? Cus I've been trying to lead animals in the wild for a while and they won't follow me...

I would like to inform you that creating an API is a lot harder than releasing a game on a different console. Minecraft was released on the xbox fairly quickly, but they have been procrastinating the mod API for later times, scared of if they release it a certain way, the community will blow which they have a reputation of doing. They could release a totally crappy version right now, but they're not.
And they HAVE been getting ready for it, one big jump was the server/client merge, which was needed for it to be made quicker, and evilseph has been asking the community to help him out with it. Maybe instead of whining about how it isn't here yet, you can contribute towards it by helping out a little.
I'm not liking everything of what they're going to do with the redstone tho'...
I'm not either. As long as they keep it so the machines function properly, i'll be fine. I would love for them to introduce different kinds of redstone so you could create different machines and circuits, instead of messing around with the ones we have now. One major thing they should add is the ability to make large circuits in a small place. Not sure how they would do that though.

There will be a big 'Skip' button right next to the 'Update' button.

Here it is. http://www.reddit.com/r/minecraftsuggestions/comments/11sinh/more_commands_for_time/ yeah, I've never used reddit before! It's Chaospillager2 because I had already made one before, but forgot the password and didn't supply an e-mail. Just needed to clear that up.
ITS AMAZING!
