Ok , what is your peoples fascination with Jammy's mod? Why would you even mention it for mob heads? You do know that there were a number of mods that added mob heads , and implemented it MUCH better then he has in his mod...According to your logic , why would Mojang acknowledge his work , when Jammy doesn't acknowledge others much better work with this particular section of his mod? I haven't seen Jammy say anything either way about this , why are you speaking for him?
Either way , its a moot point...you all need to log into Minecraft , build a bridge , and get over it...
I am not speaking for Jammy, but I am speaking as a mod developer and I realize the time and effort that it takes to put this kind of stuff together. If there is something I've put hundreds of hours worth of work trying to develop (that is a modest estimate for almost any mod worth mentioning and calling a "popular mod"... some mods have taken literally thousands of hours to develop), I at least want to get some sort of acknowledgement if some of that is being copied by somebody else... including by Mojang.
No, I'm not going to get over this. You and others say I shouldn't talk legal mumbo jumbo, but the fact is that laws do require this kind of acknowledgement too and if this isn't dealt with in an honest and caring manner can erupt into a legal mess that will make everything associated with modding to get ugly.
Some acknowledgement has happened to mod developers in the past where their content was incorporated into the game. I'm just asking for consistency when it happens again. As for if Jammy was the first person to come up with mounting heads on posts or on the wall of various creatures you have slain, I haven't done a proper survey of previous mods to find out. What I do know is that it is a currently active mod that is used by a great many players, and as far as I can tell the only mod which does something like that besides this new content that was just added.
Good parts of update: Everything except for Wither summoning method.
Bad parts of update: Wither summoning method.
I like the aspect of using the (charred?) skeleton heads for summoning a boss, but creating a golem? That's kind of silly. If you arranged the skulls in a way that created an area that the Wither would spawn in every new moon, I would be intrigued. Instead, we slap some heads on some blocks and we lavishly get "repaid" for our efforts.
I love everything else, though. Just change the wither spawning method (it's lackluster, as I said) and change the terrain generator and i'll consider 1.4 to be the best update ever. (Heck, just add the new terrain generator and i'll acknowledge the update as such.)
Well when you think about it, do you REALLY want the Wither to be able to spawn on its own, killing all the animals in the area and making a wreck in your terrain? Not to mention it always drops a Nether Star so people shouldn't be able to farm for them.
oh good can't wait to try it out !!! wait i wonder do all the mobs you kill drop heads or is that just a chance of doing a head drop. btw im sad because for the beacon you need a lot of emerald and my world is 1.2.5 and it does not spawn the ore . well i guess i have to do a LOT of trading
It doesn't have to be emeralds you can use anything iron or better.
This snapshot makes me a little sad. Looks like horses are not going to show up. And I would have much rather seen armor stands than heads I'll never use but for a boss mob.

So now just because his mod (which is not the first implementation of this stuff) is popular he should get credit from Mojang for it? That doesn't make any sense. "IF" you want them to be giving credit to the mod authors then shouldn't it be the FIRST mod author to come up with that idea? If not then by what you said if I published a mod today with content that you created a week ago then Mojang should give me credit for something that you came up with.
Now did they take something of yours and put it in the game and not give you credit? If not then then leave it be and let those that may feel they need credit be the ones that speak up.
When i put the snapshot .jar in my folder and tried to open up minecraft it would'int even launch the game! I would double click the the minecraft icon and then nothing would happen!
Ha! I'm with ya man... I'm 35 and play this game very frequently.... my xbox is gathering dust
The creation aspect of this game is just too alluring! Minecraft is much much more than just a video game. I truly believe concepts involved in this game are going to shape a lot of future thinking.
Also, consider the educational value here. I don';t know about you guys, but I have researched Ukrainian castles, Have seen RAM circuits work right before my eyes, and I've even started learning a little Java in hopes to mod my Minecraft as I grow increasingly impatient with theses updates (Why the frack can't we make a 4x4 castle door that opens and shuts without giving ourselves a redstone engineering degree?)...
Bottom line, if you think that this is just a immature diversion, you're doing it wrong (in my opinion, of course)
New boss.

This snapshot is truly awesome! Can't wait till 1.4 comes out because i'm going to have a blast! Also i'm no mod developer or anything but this is Mojang's game. If they want to add something to the game that's in a mod I see no problem with them taking it. The people who make mods should be extreamly happy that there ideas are even being implemented into the game. As for there loyal fans. Let the developer speak before you speak out for them. Maybe they're amazed that Mojang even snagged their wonderful idea? Anyway 1.4 will be amazing as for now i'll just stand back and watch you all play and report back here!
Though the method needs to be worked on a bit more. But good for starters.
ya like they should make it so that when you jump with the carrot in your hand they will actully jump with you.once you get in a cave its ltterly impossible to get out
I think they were referring to the head decorations, but it could be the Carrot on a Stick

Version 2.1 now updated for MC 1.6.2
