For everyone who keeps giving the same installation instructions to those asking: that's not what we're asking for. I'm on a Mac (Leopard 10.5.8) and I've put the minecraft.jar file in the bin folder and got all the way to the world generation screen, whereupon the game goes to black screen. I know I'm doing everything right, so I think there might be a compatibility error somewhere, as worlds can't load (not even my pre-1.8 ones). I've tried deleting the Meta-Inf folder, but that doesn't help -- I think there's a problem with a certain class file, but I'm not an expert with java, so I'm not sure which one it is. Trying to open minecraft.jar via Terminal doesn't work either; it returns an error with the Main-Class manifest attribute.
What I originally thought was the problem was the version of Java I'm running (I have a really old basic Macbook, so Java's not my specialty - I'm running 6SE), but I really doubt notch would allow an entire base of users to lose the ability to play the game, so I'm thinking it's a class file thing. Also, the only mods I use are SPC, toomanyitems, and graphics enhancers, and they're not actually in the .jar file. I even tried with a fresh minecraft folder, so I'm sure that's not the problem. I doubt anybody's going to have the solution to this, but the official release should be in 2 days anyway, so I don't really care.
Can anyone help me find my bin folder please? Using OS X lion, tried searching in spotlight but it's not returning anything... Anyone got any other ideas?
funny how many problems people are having with this IM using a average PC(IMO) and i7,1gb VC and 8gb ram i run this version of 1.8 just fine NO problems AT ALL nothing crashes works 100% nothing is wrong with it(seems like)
