I've updated to 1.3.1, at home and on my server, and was wondering if there is anything I can do to stop the crashes. Before this update I rarely if ever had this problem but now it crashes regularly, terribly regularly. I don't think its my server host because everything was perfect until 1.3 but I'm willing to consider everything now if someone can offer some advice or assistance.
Cant play multiplayer. I love the update but every time I click on Multiplayer, the game crashes. I've tried re-installing minecraft and java, and nothing works.
Let me start off saying that I'm sorry if this isn't the right forum/article for my help. . Okay, can anyone please help me with my issue that I am having with my Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. I went on thinking I was able to play, when I pressed my save game (World) and after that nothing happens. It just went to the screen where it shows the minecraft world and it doesn't do anything, just stays there without even loading my world. I Signed out, I turned off my Xbox 360, I waited for 10mins, I just don't want to delete my world cause I worked hard on it. Please help me, I am desperate for a helpright about now. Thank You for your time. . .
before i update, or look to see if half the mods i use updated. remember the online singleplayer thing. i still don't like it. private or not i want my map to stay on my harddrive only. i'm the only one i trust with it.
besides i know what syncing and streaming from a server is about in a game, and it sucks. i have a small stutter which i think is from having to log in to use my skin. nothing else explains it. i can run a 16x16 texturepack and have the game run the same with a 128x128, that means the issue is unlikely on my end.
not to mention servers are not reliable, i know that from WoW, damn servers always broke on it, and though i never lost anything i couldn't run the game, and having an addiction didn't help. i can rely on my pc far more, ironically. and god knows i would be a basket case if i didn't know what was going on with my map all the time.
if my map stays unchanged i'm happy. [besides the normal updates, more stuff, changes, etc...]
Mobs can spawn on flat surfaces (such as up-side-down stairs)
''
That's not nice... We'd need to be able to put torches on those Flat-Surfaces cause we are more likely to place 1/2 block for roof corners so that mobs will never spawn. Now, they will spawn and we can'T even put light to undo that.
a glitch that seriously needs to be looking into is the one where if you lag out on a server while you have the options open or your minecraft closes the server automatically kills you...........

dang that sucks, never dawned on me though seeing as most of my houses have flat roofs, only one i have ever built was pitched. i grew up in a flat roof house, so i perfer that design more. but i have to say considering many others build pitched roof houses, man that must suck. my only advice is keep one surface flat for torches. i was not to thrilled when spiders could climb walls, i already had a problem with them partying on my roof, when they learned to climb it made the issue twice as bad. my whole roof is lined with redstone lamps for that problem and i have an attack golem for defense.

Your map goes nowhere. Your world is only MP if you open it to be such. (yes yes, the client is still running server code. But you are not broadcasting.)
Even if you were broadcasting, the only way a person could "get your map" is if they typed /seed and then copied it. Or if you gave it to them as a DL of course.

The only thing the game does when you "log in" is check to make sure you have an account. It may also get the skin image from minecraft.net, but other than that no more data. Did you make sure you had "snooper mode" disabled? That would be sending a stream to Mojang.

WoW hosts its own servers, Minecraft servers are player hosted (for the most part).
Tis not too fair comparing the two. It's like calling Guild Wars 1 a MMO. Sure you can talk to folks in town, but once you go out to quest you are solo.
So if you want a reliable server, then find a player with a good server setup. As for Mojang, they do not host a dedicated MC server (to my knowledge)
In real terms, the average player should not even notice the difference between things as they are now and things as they will be after the change has been implemented. You will log into your game and into your world just as normal. It is only really the background that has adjusted, the way the game works within itself. You will not need an internet connection to play Minecraft, the 'server' will be hosted on your own home computer, meaning that you can still play even while offline.
I just upgraded to 1.3.1, and it seems to be working pretty well so far. I was holding off until I went to the end and beat the dragon in 1.2.5. With that finished, I backed up my worlds and my whole .minecraft folder just in case (in addition to my daily drive backups).
I can't directly compare performance before and after the upgrade because I had Optifine installed on 1.2.5. I had the render distance set to Far +32, and that was averaging around 130 fps. IIRC it was averaging around 300 fps before I installed Optifine. Now on 1.3.1 I'm averaging over 400 fps with the max at well over 600 fps! I can't wait to for Optifine to be updated so that I can set my render distance even greater. For reference I have a 2600K @4.5GHz with a stock GTX580.
Gameplay is fairly smooth for the most part. Sometimes there is a barely perceptible lag when placing torches, opening chests, and the first swing of a pick when mining. I think I only noticed the lag because I was looking for it.
Mobs on the other hand are occasionally a little jumpy, particularly slimes. I'm sure it's a side effect of SSP running a local server now. It's the same glitchy problem I've seen on a lot of SMP videos. It's a little annoying, but I'll deal with it.
Several people stated that they fell into the void when entering or leaving the Nether. I thought I'd give it a shot, though I cleared out my inventory beforehand just in case. I went back and forth between the overworld and the Nether at least a dozen times without trouble. That's really odd that so many people had trouble. The one thing I did notice is that I seemed to fall about half a block each time I emerged from a portal. Maybe it's always been like that and I simply didn't notice until now. Who knows?

Unless you're partied? SWTOR and probably a dozen other games would also not be MMOs using that definition. Besides, if you're going to remove the game from the genre you have to give it a genre to go into.
MIPO - Massively instanced, people optional.
Also, MC updates have been a joke since a solid 6 months before release when it became clear that the obscene amount of money Mojang was making and all the parties they were throwing weren't leading to creatively enhancing their player's experience.
I'd rather just not have to do with 5-7 days of instability for... emerald.

good, now i can have a bit of peace of mind. i have no clue what 'snooper mode' is so i have no clue if it is off or on. is it a seperate program? because even with control pack and optifine which have settings out the whazzo i have no snooper thing. and it's not on magic launcher my mod manager either. so i can assume for now it is no issue. than again i'm not sure what it is.
and what i mean by server issues, is mostly stability and if a big company like blizz has crap servers, then i doubt any smaller company or less has anything remotely decent. i mostly didn't want to be on minecraft and have it suddenly croak for no reason.
i hate multiplayer in games, online or otherwise, ranks right up with quick time events to me. both are better off removed. so that is my main concern. i started minecraft as a lone wolf and i'll be damned if that changes. but now i know it won't.

120fps, how powerful is your computer? i get 60fps average and that is with a ton of features disabled, but if the game runs better then before, maybe i'll have a less amount of stuttering.
and i'm sure that when going in the nether i never dropped a block or half a block, unless my portal spawned one block higher then the ground level or on the edge of a cliff. so that may be new, doesn't sound game breaking.
BUT!!
ThaHell!! of the Play demo! if user not premium! grrr!
Thanks
