The tone here reminds me of the T-shirt: "I listen to bands that don't even exist yet."
I'm a PC guy all day every day. My last console was a Super Nintendo, because I don't personally feel the need to buy a box every six years that duplicates the functionality of an all-purpose box I'm already building every four. Yes, console has become the bane of the PC gamer's existence over that last half-decade due to its negative influence on PC games, but Minecraft coming to Xbox isn't going to ruin Minecraft. PC games being ported to console is a good thing. It bucks the trend of developers making mush to better slide down the throats of console gamers with low expectations, and then delivering that same console mush to PC. The ongoing matter-of-course PC vs. console (vs. Wii) war of fanboys is getting tired. There's not much innovation going on in your mind if you find these kinds of black-and-white debates interesting. People choose different things, end of story.
I also highly doubt dedicated console players are going to have much of a presence on this forum. People who stick to consoles usually do so because they're after a simple, streamlined gaming experience. The way console has shaped games in the last several years is a pretty clear indication of that. Modding, servers, etc.--I don't think much of that will apply to them.
Mojang deserves every amount of success that comes its way. Keep in mind that Notch is a big fan of indie games. A console port being developed by a separate team is not going to change his sensibility.
Everyone loves Minecraft, and everyone should be able to play it. Let's not **** on something just because we like to think of ourselves as special little indie turds who like to keep everything pure and for ourselves.
Lol. I'm pretty sure Minecraft is just going to die out soon. I'll give it 6 months after its final release until its not that great anymore. I got my 4 months out of it.I'm done with minecraft. Updates slow. Updates suck. It's the same **** over again. -goes off to play Street Fighter and Terraria with a little Beat Hazard on the side-

Vegetarian: Native American definiton for "lousy hunter".
with the exact same headline came Madden for Xbox (believe it was 2001 or so).
I remember the same console hater's screams, the dev's appeasement ("this does not affect the PC version in any way", "console dev is done by another team", etc), the console-gamer's rejoice.
in 2008 PC version development ceased and the game became console exclusive. Today it's on every platform (even on 3" phone screens) but one.
It could easily be because profits from PC versions proved to be too low to be a practical release platform. The fact that I've never heard a single person complain as such would support that possibility, too. I mean, who plays football games on the PC, anyway? I really, really doubt anyone will ever say the same for Minecraft, especially considering it's generally much better suited to a PC control scheme, much unlike Madden.
When to expect €10 DLCs that give you iron trapdoors
The fear of this happening is completely irrational and unfounded - most updates for Minecraft are extremely small (usually less than 10mb if I'm not mistaken), small enough to be considered a patch. X360 does those completely free of charge. And once again, if you don't like it... well, stick to the PC version and you'll be none the wiser.
and when to expect PC version development ceased for financial reasons
Minecraft in general will be dead before that happens. Don't expect that to happen for quite a long time.
this is what happened to PC games that get good support from the PC community they end up mutiplatform and consolized with compromises. get ready for them to focusing on the console standard by ruining, streamlining and simplifying everything just like so many other great PC focused game that went multiplayform.
it was a lot of fun, and I'm glad it gave me joy like few other games have this gen but i guess it was too good to be last.
well i am what you guys call a console **** and i love minecraft in a regular way and i wouldnt say i have destroyed ur forum however i dont think a blocky game like minecraft is going to appeal to all the 7 year old halo kids anyway.
To everyone saying "NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO", think of it this way. The guy who made FortressCraft (A ripoff of Minecraft on Xbox) will be really mad.

I have a small question about when it comes to box. Will it be DLC or a $60 game disc. and if it is a $60 disc do we the people who paid for the beta get a discount???
That's true they only care about flashy lights and space gremlins Also I am a "Console f**k" too, and to be honest I'll probably just stick to my mac anyway.
Actually, games like Monster Rancher, Viva Pinata and Animal Crossing all existed on consoles way before Minecraft was ever a thought in Notch's head. All those games are resource gathering, building games. So thats not only what console gamers care about.
Independently developed games like Limbo and Braid sold millions on the 360 as well.

It said it's coming to XBLA. That's not a game disc. And if you want to acquire it for the XBox you're going to have to buy it again. Full price. I'm thinking 1400 points. Maybe 1200. Something equatable to $20 anyway, seeing as this is coming out after the release date of Minecraft.

Thanks now I don't have to worry much because i thought it was going to be a beast to buy. cause I'm getting Halo aniversery and MW3 this winter and ME3 this fall. so this will be generous on my wallet.
...but most console guys tend to be either complete dicks or annoying shits...
...I would also like to point out the point in these two posts, we here on this game in this community have benefited with a forgiving environment in we have learned to co exist with each other, without screaming, without cussing each other out and most of the time make thoughts capable of being formed with other thoughts to make a good idea...
lol
If idiocy like this is typical of your precious community, "console guys" are ****ing nuclear physicists and pillars of the community compared to you.
Seriously, the lot of you need to take a look in the mirror before you start making these childish generalizations.
Not that I have anything against consoles, but I doubt it will be success. Kinect is the motion sensor thing right ? I can't imagen that someone wants to constantly lift up his arm to break thousands of blocks. If I'm right about the motion stuff, though.
Notch, I can't believe you've done this! I can't ****ing believe that you could screw us over like this!
All this time, we wanted Minecraft to be a PC EXCLUSIVE, because at this point NOTHING else is anymore. We just wanted to ****ing say that this is something that was OURS and no one else's. But no. I was fine with the pocket edition because Android is Linux and they've already gotten to
With 1.6, you've nearly BROKEN THE ****ING GAME, only to screw us over by NOT fixing it because you're too busy making it for Xbox and swimming in the gigantic mountain of cash you have. It took you this long to actually make the game playable because of what you've done.
Now, we're going to have a billion Xbox fanboys flood the ****ing forum, butchering the English language, degrading everyone's IQ, and telling us that the PC sucks.
I did not want any of this **** to happen, and NEITHER DID ANY OF THE ****ING PEOPLE WHO PAYED YOU SO MUCH MONEY AND GAVE YOU SO MUCH FAME IN THE FIRST PLACE. You've really done it this time, you ****ing asshole! You've betrayed all of us! Go **** yourself.

Diablo, Every MMO, Starcraft, Half Life, Terraria, Civilization, Portal, and not to mention that most games for PC have the ability to be modded, like the Elder Scrolls series.

No. Actually, he fixed the bugs within days after 1.6 came out. Also, nobody in the Mojang team is making the port. Microsoft is. Sorry if bad things happen when only ten people make a game. It's actually -very- impressive that they fixed the game in such little time. With ten people.
Now, we're going to have a billion Xbox fanboys flood the ****ing forum, butchering the English language, degrading everyone's IQ, and telling us that the PC sucks.
No. We're not. It's very unreasonable and stupid to think this. But, by reading your post, I can tell this is the norm for you. You have no evidence that this is going to happen, and it makes more sense that people won't.
If Xbox users are really as stupid as you think (and they're not, I'm one and I'm smarter than you) then there's only a snowball's chance in hell they'll ever make it to these forums.

Wrong, I helped him get rich and I'm completely for this movement. In fact, most people are, if you could get your miniscule head around to actually reading other posts. But no, that would prove you wrong, so instead you make up facts and assume that other people are as lazy as you and not read other posts.
Is the deal with Microsoft an exclusive? Will there still be regular updates on the PC version? Will the PC version be completed before the Xbox one? etc. etc.
Yes. Yes. Yes.
All obvious.
1. Microsoft payed him to make it exclusive.
2. It's port. Microsoft isn't taking over Mojang. Mojang still owns Minecraft. When Mojang adds updates to Minecraft, Microsoft copies and pastes the code over to the Xbox version.
3. Obviously. The game is scheduled to be finished 11/11/11. That's Fall. According to the title of this thread, and everything related to this topic, It's going to Xbox in Winter. Fall is before Winter.
You know how the description says 'official forums, Notch reads these'... Funny things, 30+ pages on this subject and still no word from Notch. Last update on the 'Word of Notch' site is from 31/05/2011 and his 'ramblings on twitter' contain just nonsensical things about him 'forgetting something at the hotel, blah blah blah'. C'mon, everyone can see this topic heated things up. I'm sure Notch can reach the forums even if he's at E3, I'm sure one of the admins called him and said 'As soon as we announced MC on Xbox, all hell broke loose'... And still no word from Notch. Why won't he step forward and answer some simple questions from us? Is the deal with Microsoft an exclusive? Will there still be regular updates on the PC version? Will the PC version be completed before the Xbox one? etc. etc.
I have a bad feeling he doesn't answer the many questions raised in this thread because he doesn't WANT to answer. Which kind of makes me wonder if the future is bright...
Maybe he noticed what an entitled bunch of brats his core "fan base" is.
