This is ********. I thought mojang was for the comunity. They proved that to be false by making a deal with mojang. Im sick of microsoft just buying out great franchises. Its really annoying to be honest. ;/
dude why do ps3 people care and it is not fare for xbox people cause we pay for live, points, and all this stuff and ps3 they mostly get every thing for free so it should be for xbox cause it is awesome and better go xbox
Everything you just said was absolutely positively retarded. Maybe you should learn how money works but I think you're a lost cause.
Oh and online is probably going to be crap. I have a life outside of games, as I imagine gamers who aren't children do, I'm not going to burn $40 a year just to play for 20 minutes. So yeah, PC > XBOX any day.
Mojang gets letter from microsoft
"If you make it exclusive, you can put minecraft on 360, and we pay you to do so"
"If you dont make it exclusive, u dont get money or mc on 360"
So why get angry? also 360 is known for having a better arcade, if u want arcade games, u likely have a 360 anyway.
okay so Microsoft pays a lump some to make minecraft only ported to 360 (as far as consoles go) = only xbox owners can buy (thus only xbox owners money goes to Mojang)
OR
minecraft releases on PS3, Vita, 3DS, WiiU, AND Xbox = A LOT more people can buy minecraft (and mojang then gets A LOT more money) also this would open up the concept of a true cross-platformer (play from any system/PC with anybody using any system/PC)
unless of course microsofts payment to mojang was through the roof and then some of course
which would mean it wasnt for money on xbox'x part, it was just to be "better" than the rest.
All gaming platforms have issues. both ps3 and xbox 360 are not an exception. I own both Ps3 and 360 and I have to say that, I dont agree with this. 1) Because most of my friends that play minecraft do not have a 360, only ps3 2) I enjoy using my ps3 more than my 360 due to it being free to play.
Now, whats going to turn ALOT of people off of this version is the fact that ....their friends wont be able to play with them as in my case. They are cutting off an entire platform's memberbase from minecraft.....and In my opinion thats not what minecraft is about. Its about being creative any way you can....with some survival mixed in. NOw its....BE creative as long as you have an Xbox 360 or a Well spec computer.
Just my two cents. I will buy the 360 version non the less but I would have also bought a ps3 version as well if it were to come out. Just so I can experience it with my friends who have a ps3
However you cant fault Microsoft or Mojang...business is business and money is money.
Don't forget legal contracts. Many Indie developers WANT to makes games for both consoles but can't due to legal complications.
I say dont go exclusive because 1) you will lose alot of potential money Hince Ps3,PsV, Psp, Wii i doubt EVERY minecraft player will go and but an Xbox and pay 50 dollars to play online so I Say to you notch dont do it go for ps3 and xbox users maybe wii (the more interative system) but it is your choice

im going to go ahead and correct you by saying WiiU not Wii
This is ********. I thought mojang was for the comunity. They proved that to be false by making a deal with mojang. Im sick of microsoft just buying out great franchises. Its really annoying to be honest. ;/
They are for the comunity. In case you haven't noticed, The console is EXACTLY the same, just a few updates behind.
Honestly? Meh. I don't really care for a console port since the PC version will always be top priority for Mojang.
Oh and free updates? You'll have to pay Microsoft extra money for those. Don't believe me? Look at Valve's games.
Don't forget legal contracts. Many Indie developers WANT to makes games for both consoles but can't due to legal complications.
Seriously? Do you pay any attention to the development? Do your research before you go embarassing yourself in front of a forum full of experts.
As for my opinion, go Mojang. Obviously if Minecraft weren't a big deal, Microsoft wouldnt have bought it. PS3 declined the offer of Minecraft to their console. So all of you PS3 people (besides the ones being civilised) getting your panties in a twist, just know that it is Sony's fault that they didn't take the offer.
The definition of the word definition is a paradox, considering the definition of a definition is a definition, while you must know the word definition to look up the definition of the word definition........ are you confused yet?
Don't forget legal contracts. Many Indie developers WANT to makes games for both consoles but can't due to legal complications.
However that has nothing to do with my mojang signed the exclusivity deal....this cuts them off from being able to publish to another console if the opportunity arose.
How is it exclusive with Microsoft if we already have pocket edition on iOS and Android, but not Windows Phone?
I dont think microsoft has a problem with pocket edition because they dont have a huge member base for mobile gaming. Windows Phone isnt really that popular. Most people would say they think its just microsoft's way of keeping a major hit game away from the PS Vita and the PS3
But yeah depending on what the legality of the exclusivity deal entails they could have excluded pocket edition from the exclusivity deal.
I don't mind that Minecraft is on the Xbox. If Minecraft was on the PS3 exclusively then we'd be seeing a lot more 12 year old little shits, with an Xbox they got for Christmas, raging.
There are some people that would say minecraft is for the younger audience. This is a game for everyone....no matter if your my age of 18 or at 12. Its a game that is for everyone to have fun.
Now your statement of "12 year old little Sh**'s".....are 12 year old's raging just exclusivly on PS3? Because I think there are at least SOME on xbox....but....what does that matter. It is not like you dont already have that on the PC version, between griefers, trolls and just plain annoying people.
All this doesnt matter, I still will buy on the Xbox 360, however I would like a version for PS3 so I could play with the majority of my friends who play minecraft and only have a PS3.
By cutting themselves off from PS3, they are loosing a major platforms member base. Now some people are saying that Microsoft paid them for the exclusivity....which just may well be true.
But you just have to think. How much did Microsoft offer to Mojang to convince them to loose out on the profits of selling a PS3 and PS Vita version.
That question in its self has to make you think that Microsoft paid out a really really hefty fee for the exclusivity of Minecraft for the Xbox 360.
Which brings me back to my point from earlier. Business is business and money is money. Most people would do the same thing mojang did.
All we can do now is see if they listen to the community on the matter or not.
the whole top half of this message is great, but are you kidding me with the last bit? not trying to be rude but people do have the same ideas, i dont even remember hearing anything about minecraft until after xbox had released the avatars. im sure they didn't mimic minecraft over that one
Well that's why I tried using a word like 'mimic' and not 'clone' considering Minecraft was not the first of its kind (same with WoW, pretty sure Ultima online was way before that). But you have to agree that the sudden boom that Minecraft became, it did spawn a lot of similar games (like with GTA and sandbox/free roams).
I'm not implying that the Xbox arcade game is in anyway something that was created to be like Minecraft. Just saying that it did help with sales.
Anywho I'm not really here saying "Oh no why not every other console!" but more trying to stand beside Mojang and what would be best. Limiting it to Xbox console only (and do a company that LOVES exclusivity) does limit how much money you could potentially make. Also taking into the fact that it has no portable device to date (on top of that its out for, and was showcased with, the Xperia so assuming it would come out for PS3 is understandable).
Wait who knows this? i believe that would be Playstation Ragers... since half the time when people tell someone why PS3 > Xbox360, i hear them say "Playstation has better exclusives" and actually, Playstation also has MORE exclusives.... UNLESS you want to be all technical and directly say MICROSOFT does, in which case its ridiculous, seeing as 99% of them exclusives are on PC.
Also @ElementalChaos, youre too late.
Sorry I didn't specify on exactly what I meant but yes, I was saying it directly about Microsoft. Sure PS3 has a decent amount of exclusives (Most of which are from companies that have been Sony exclusive from PS1; Naughty Dog) but no where near the amount that Xbox does but, that's besides the point.
Microsoft as a company loves exclusives whether it be for Xbox or PC, they're both still Microsoft.
I guess the best example would be is with Call of Duty. Yes the GAME isn't Micro/Box exclusive but they do have an unbelievable amount of CoD special edition accessories (ala CoD edition Xbox). Not only that but often release content for Xbox first (Yes PSN updates every thurs [?] but I'm talking weeks in advance).
dude why do ps3 people care and it is not fare for xbox people cause we pay for live, points, and all this stuff and ps3 they mostly get every thing for free so it should be for xbox cause it is awesome and better go xbox
I prefer Playstation because the consoles last longer and the fact they cost more makes up for that. And playstation people dont 'get everything for free' we had content we have to buy we just dont have to pay to go online, which xbox shouldnt do either. You are providing your own internet connection, what are they charging you for? Customer Service? Moderation in games? If so you arnt getting your monies worth because every xbox player I've met in games are loud, obnoxious and rude, which is why I never bought one. People on playstation are helpful and friendly for the most part.
Honestly, I don't know why people complain about it being an Xbox exclusive.
You're on the Minecraft forums. This means you most likely have Minecraft. Already. As in, on your COMPUTER.
So all you PS3 whiners: shut the hell up.
All you PC lovers: shut the hell up.
And all you Xbox fanboys: shut the hell up.
Because we all have one thing in common; we already HAVE the game.
However there are many many reasons that your statement isnt 100% accurate
1) Not Everyone has a computer that is capable of running minecraft decently
2) Not everyone wants to sit in front of a computer for a few hours
3) Some people prefer controllers to a mouse and keyboard, myself included
4) While we already own the game on PC, doesnt mean we dont want to live out the whole new experience a Console version will bring
I can tell you from experience that having a PC version and having that same game on console feels totally different
In example. Ps3 users who purchased portal 2, also received the pc version on steam as well...WITH cross platform multiplayer.
My point im getting to with Portal 2 is that I enjoy laying on the couch with my 60 inch 1080p television and relaxing in a comfortable position instead of sitting hunched over to reach a keyboard in front of my 27 inch monitor straining my eyes. (which is a major health problem for your spine and eyes)
It all comes down to preference and its not up to anyone to dictate anyones opinions and preferences, whether they be PS3 users, 360 users or PC users.
I would just like to reiterate that this isn't about microsoft being greedy like i've seen alot of people saying.
Mojang wasn't forced to sign with them. When you make a licensing deal like this, both parties AGREE for it to be legally binding.
Now usually it goes something like this, you get two options roughly like: (this is just an excerpt of what might be an agreement, of course there are many more clauses)
1.
Mojang will grant Microsoft an exclusive licence to sell Minecraft on home consoles for the term of this agreement.
Microsoft will pay Mojang a lump sum of $4,000,000.
Mojang will receive 25% of profits from all sales of Minecraft by microsoft whilst this agreement is in effect.
2.
Mojang will grant Microsoft a non-exclusive licence to sell Minecraft on home consoles for the term of this agreement.
Mojang will receive 15% of profits from all sales of Minecraft by Microsoft whilst this agreement is in effect.
Now Mojang probably calculated how much they would make from each and just decided to go for offer 1. Therefore It is not Microsoft being greedy, if anything it is Mojang being money hungry rather than focussed on volume of sales and ease of access. Who knows how much was really offered though. As for corporate alliances and goals on Mojang's part, I have no idea what they are aiming for, it does seem contrary to what I would expect from the indie games company.
I would just like to reiterate that this isn't about microsoft being greedy like i've seen alot of people saying.

EXACTLY! And thats where mojang is going to get alot of backlash in my opinion is that they kind of just....split the community in half and I dont think its going to bode well at all. As weve seen in the last few hours the major console war this has started on the forums

Nuts to console wars. Buy what you think is good, don't buy what you think is bad. Back in my day we had console wars and none of this tiny little complaining we have. Sega does what Nintendon't and all that
I was going to leave it at this, but then I saw another post from thei. And, by the way, I do not like people putting numbers in their name just because they aren't the first one. People should just pick a new original name
However there are many many reasons that your statement isnt 100% accurate
1) Not Everyone has a computer that is capable of running minecraft decently
In this day and age? I know Minecraft is a guzzler because Notch can't optimise to save his life, but its at least still workable
2) Not everyone wants to sit in front of a computer for a few hours
And a TV makes this different somehow?
3) Some people prefer controllers to a mouse and keyboard, myself included
Plug a controller into your PC. Problem solved!
4) While we already own the game on PC, doesnt mean we dont want to live out the whole new experience a Console version will bring
...
Its the exact same game, except inevitably several patches behind. How is that a new experience? What is new about that? You'd get the same experience plugging a controller into your PC, projecting Minecraft onto a wall, and playing
I can tell you from experience that having a PC version and having that same game on console feels totally different

Well, maybe you should read about ergonomics, particularly how you shouldn't be hunched over your keyboard. Seriously, bad for your back
And you do know you could, y'know, hook up your TV and your computer so it'll display on it, right? Or just go the awesome route, buy a projector, and have that sucker displayed on a wall
It all comes down to preference and its not up to anyone to dictate anyones opinions and preferences, whether they be PS3 users, 360 users or PC users.
Yes, preference. This is your point. Its not "A whole new experience", its "The same experience on a different system". Its like playing Sonic 2 on the Mega Drive and then playing it on the Gamecube or something. Its the same exact experience
