Jeb has been discussing potions quite a bit lately - it seemed in the early stages of planning that potions would be brewed using a cauldron. However, recentcomments strongly suggest that the cauldron is being replaced with a brewing stand (seen above).
In addition - Notch strongly hinted at an upcoming enchantment system, complete with an enchanting table or similar object (seen below). While he did confirm that it would cost Experience Points, have a 3-tier system and be "totally random", any other information on the topic has been somewhat cryptic.
With all the recent monster, item and biome additions to the game, one thing is for certain - 1.9 will be a feature-packed release!
Oh my god, random enchantment ?? I hope he doesn't really go down that road...
I would only like that if it was more a system like in Nethack, not random but unknown as long as you don't use it in the correct way... It was a pretty tough system but was infinite fun :laugh.gif:

First off, I may have to see how the potion stand works myself, but I'm much more in favor of the cauldron. Still, I like the aesthetic of the rack, and the idea itself might work, maybe as a first level alchemy station.
Next, the enchanting. The only problem I really have is that it cost EXP. I would like to hope that rather then in being ^&%$-all random, that it's only random when you're trying to LEARN spells. As you figure out enchantments, you can then use them again as needed.
I'm pretty sure that's a Blaze Rod. I doubt Notch would make a gold rod/ beam or whatever just for that. Then again.. Anyhow, I'm glad we can have a use for the blaze rod itself. (maybe) I was little peeved it was only being used for blaze powder or whatever. Bones are bonemeal, but they can also be used for wolves (thanks to a later update). The point is even if the item you use to get bonemeal has a use. I still think Blaze Rods should be a means to better weapons. Honestly, I see a diamond sword with a blaze rod hilt being far more potent and long lasting than a crummy wooden hilt. Hopefully, someone makes a mod for that if it doesn't get implemented like that. Sure, it would basically be an one hit kill most mobs, but the real use would be for boss mobs.

"I don't plan to add a new dimension at the moment. It's just to performance heavy on servers, and the current dimensions need more attention before we start adding new ones." < Yeah, like biomes or actual varied terrain in the nether. Nether ruins didn't do the trick at all.
Looks like a Blaze Rod in the middle of the potion holder, so that means we'll have to explore the Nether a bit to have access to this awesome stuff
