NO im not attending... It seems to me notch has only thought of the USA fanbase when hosting this, Whilst many of us from Europe cant go since of the prices of everything when added up. im from UK btw.
I feel that after reading this there are some problems with the minecraft community that also make it so amazing. The game is so widespread and played by people with an age range of, (just a random guess here) 8-30, or something like that. The majority of these people can't make it because of various reasons. If they are underage their parents won't take them, or they are in school and can't get out for a week, they might not have money to spend traveling to Vegas from around the world, or even around half the world.
The fact that minecraft has made it across North America and Europe and to many other continents makes it an amazing game considering the full game isn't even released, and won't be until November. But it is also what I think will hurt any major gathering of minecraft players from around the world. It prevents anyone with little money from going(air fare and hotel costs) or anyone who is under the age of 18(or legal age elsewhere).
But don't get me wrong I'm sure thousands of people will show up, and if I could afford it I would go too. I'm sure out of the "2,984,978" people who have bought the game at least 10-20% can and will make it without a problem.
It would be nice if there were a contest or something that people could win to get an all expense paid trip to minecon....

Yeah I noticed that too. Except I am from Canada... Near Toronto, I though Florida was a long drive. I agree though why couldn't it be like closer to other countries too... Or they could save money and like you implied and have it in Europe. I see more European/people by that area, on this forum then I see U.S. The again that could be because of who I normally talk with... XD Or the ones living in Caves, mines, Mincraftia, ect.
i live in arizona but we just came back from a vaction and and we dont really have alot of money plus my dad would ummm... think minecon is not important but i would love to go
