I honestly don't understand how few things people can see in this trailer! They are either blind or just trolling.
Here is a list for those of you who cannot visually perceive anything:
Rotten Flesh, dropped from Zombie
Fence Gates on the Melon farm
Melon seeds in his hand at the same point in the video as fence gates
Ruins, strongholds, and abandoned mineshafts
New blocks: Smooth Brick, Cracked Brick, Mossy Brick, Melon block, thin glass panes (announced in behind the scenes) and even more that I probably missed.
New eating animation
New bow mechanic
NPC villages minus the NPCs until 1.9 or some time later
Experience Orbs
New types of meat
Judging by how quickly he put on the armor, perhaps shift click now works with the armor slots in your inv. ( suttle, but there )
Smoother day and night transitions
New lighting engine
New mobs, Endermen and Blue (poisonous) Spiders
Skeletons now hold full bows instead of the item sprite
Sprinting and longer jumps while doing so
Critical Hits
New terrain generation
Ravines
Rivers
Vines
Creative Mode and Flying
Hunger and Exp bars.
THAT'S what the new trailer showcases. Not NPC villages AHEM AHEM TYLER AHEM.
So re-watch it with these things in mind and look for 'em. Even if you were just trolling, I certainly didn't waste my time making this post. Many people don't know all the new features.
Might aswell start getting fresh jar files kids, your mods are gonna be gone for quite some time after this update! :biggrin.gif:
And THATS why I massacred my minecraft with as many mods as I could possibly fit together while remaining compatible.
It's very fun. Until 1.8. *rageface*
Oh well. Some of the new features in 1.8 are going to be better than most of my mods anyway!
Just a little note, 1.8 is almost definitely coming out anywhere from Thursday to Wednesday of next week at the latest. So get ready to hack up some Endermen and farm your watermelon, because we're about to have a whole new adventure...

Thank you. Haha. I just thought that the villages were out completely in the 1.8 update.
I didn't know they would be putting in the villages minus the people.
Ok so I'm a noob, have only been playing since 1.7 has been out, so have never been through a update before. My question is it will update your world you have now right? you don't have to start all over? not that I wouldn't just kinda happy with the ol home. oh and one more thought will you get experiance orbs from your monster grinder? I know nobody knows yet but a thought

If you want the new generated thing you would start a new world, if you dont you can just keep it but you would still have endermen, and you would still be able to get exp i think.
oh damn, that enderman looks crazy when it teleports. It's definitely a prototypical black version of a tear drop alien being long and thin arms legs.
purtyup667 - mojang why cant you release it now if it's finished? They gave it to Hat Films so it MUST be finished by now. Why make us wait LONGER than we already have?
Well technically they're not finished. Notch and Jeb both said this update will be split into 2 parts since some things needs more time to polish up.
However the supposed "tentative" release date for part 1 of 1.8 is September 8th, 2011 or in this case Thursday.
Whether or not it's going to release then idk as Tentative means it's not 100% confirmed rather a placement date of hoping to release it by then.
will you get experiance orbs from your monster grinder? I know nobody knows yet but a thought
Jeb has stated that experience orbs are only dropped when the player kills a mob. So grinders do not work.
They're actually considering eventually doing this with all mob drops.
lol 8th of Sep. no longer... i really cant wait any longer ;(
they just torture people, jeez.
just release it RIGHT NOW and make MILLIONS of people HAPPY.
In the halloween update, the terrain generator was changed but people didn't have to make a new world. The current terrain you've explored will remain unchanged, but when you explore new terrain, all the new terrain features will be generated. All other features are added nevertheless. This is what happened in the halloween update, and the 1.8 update will do the same.
