In a recent article on PC Gamer, Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson explained a new leveling system for Minecraft versions to come.
“I’m a big roguelike fan,” explains Notch. “It’s really fun. The idea is that you level up really, really fast. You can grind away and level up fast if you want to, or you can just play as normal and level up that way. The longer you play, the bigger the risk of dying becomes. It’s the part that really works. If it feels like it’s too harsh, we might make it half or something like that. But the fact that you lose everything – you lose all your inventory anyways.”
This is looking like it's more and more to do with the much anticipated "Adventure Update" moniker that Patch 1.8 has been dubbed with.
I'm not sure about this. I hope there will be a toggle, or something to that effect.

When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. I don't want your damn lemons! I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!
How will gaining levels affect our character? Does a higher level character do more damage? Or maybe higher critical chance? Will it affect what weapons and armor we can use? And how will this all play into PvP? It sounds pretty cool but I hope it'll be balanced out. :smile.gif:
people immediately saying:
"THIS IS GAY" you lose your leveling progress when you die, it's not like you lose your saves.
"NOT AN MMORPG" mc already was an mmorpg, it just didn't have all the functions without mods people have created.

No, I'm not some n00b that makes there username have to do with the game they're playing. There were no Endermen in Alpha. N00bs.
hunger.... ok can live with that, leveling will be the first ill let be modded out, and if permadeath means when you die enough times in singleplayer and cant play your world anymore, im modding that out to... explanation about permadeath please?
Permadeath = You die and you die for good. Game over. Delete your world and make another.
And I agree. If permadeath isn't a toggle-able function already, I'll have to mod it out as I'm happy with hunger and I can tolerate leveling since its only affecting max HP.
