I typed in a random seed after reading "The Hobbit" So I typed in Hobbit as the seed. I spawned on an island. I have swam to other islands and still NO trees! This forum is somewhat of a challenge. Type in the seed Hobbit, then attempt to find trees. Please post pics. Thank you and enjoy.
Lol guys not to be annoying but YOU NEED TE NAME TO BE THE SAME. seeds will make the same world but name dertemens the spawn point. Say if he named it Minecraft world 1 than it willl spawn him somewher on that seeds world. if i named mine Minecraft world 2 than i could spawn in the artic.

FALSE. The name you choose for the world does NOT determine anything other than the folder the world data files reside in. The spawn point is randon on certain maps. all you have to do is delete and generate the same seed again and name the world the exact same thing to see that the spawn changes every time, even with the same map name.

Not to be pedantic, but the name makes no difference to anything at all. the spawn point is determined by a specific set of rules, namely that minecraft will attempt to set the spawn point at X 0, Y 63, Z 0, if possible, on a sand block, if this is not possible then it will set the spawn point as close as possible to those coordinates. If it is possible to spawn on sand at 0, 63, 0, then everyone who uses that seed will also spawn at 0, 63, 0, otherwise it will be random, but close to those coordinates.
As far as I am aware the positions of all blocks are determined by the world generator using the seed, so no matter what you name it, the trees, ores, mountains, dungeons, spawners, etc, etc, are always the same for that seed value.
No matter where you spawn, if you travel far enough you will find every block, biome, and mob is available somewhere on that world, it's guaranteed.
I think tree spawns are determined when you generate the map, so even if someone uses the exact same seed, the trees in the world could be on completely different positions.
That's not how it works. Whenever you use a seed, it uses the seed to generate the world, it doesn't use a predetermined map, so each and every time you use that seed the tress will be the same.

Coords are:
x -53
y 69
z 96
Edit: Nevermind...my map finished loading and I saw trees all around me >.> Nice map though.
