It's been awhile, and just over a full year since I had started this thread. I remember cradling this thing and bumping it constantly and slowly growing the repertoire from odds and ends until some people thought anything worth reading on the forums popped up here, which made me very very happy. I've been reading the trash that has accumulated here from advertisers and the comments of some few people saying that there's a lot of dead links and outdated info, which there is. Well, good news. I've decided to put some time into this again.
This time, however, I'd like it to be more of a community project.
When I originally did this thread, I would literally read pages and pages of threads and scoured hundreds, probably thousands, of thread titles trying to separate the wheat from the chaff. I did a pretty good job, considering a lot of it was a one-man show. This time, I want people to come and actually post good thread links. Please. Help me help the community.
Some other things I've been playing with is the idea of giving out awards to threads based on excellence, popularity, and awesomeness. We could maybe even get volunteers to create banners to thread authors of note as a little reward for and encouragement for being excellent role models of the community. I was thinking of monthly or weekly awards where people nominate threads that have "made it" to the list during the week/month and then a poll is taken to determine winners. I think it would be fun, or at least my mental image of it is.
Thread O' Links is not necessarily about being a forum wiki or a repository of good information so much as it is about highlighting what makes players and forum-goers of Minecraft excited to create their own masterpiece. It is easy to look at forums like these with all their crap threads and get discouraged, but I think that this thread, in a small way, helps people cut through the crap to see the diamonds in the rough.
If you would like to help me:
Post about any links from the list which have become outdated, useless, or outclassed.
Point out any broken links.
Post threads you enjoyed reading and consider at least worthy of consideration.
Become active in the thread's growth.
I have not followed the game, so I do not know what has been broken or patched, so the only way it gets fixed is if it's told to me.
If this thread has ever helped you find something or has inspired you, then pay it back by paying it forward. Find a link, whether to thread, video, picture, or blog post, that has helped you and share it with others
Yeah, a lot of the older links suffered during a forum migration a long time ago and left posts linking some youtube videos with just the youtube tag (in this case: TbkxvXEYsLA) that you can still find if you plug it into http:// . I should probably screen some of the older stuff because that's simply not that cool anymore since it's brain dead easy with pistons, but that is how we had to do it in the old days.
Simple minecart terminus
Very simple minecart station terminus, store one minecart on a loop, bring it out with a button, and launch or store it with another button. You have to shove the cart about a little to get it to go in the right direction if you bring it out and want to store it back, or arrive at the station and want to go back.
Yeah, that is pretty awesome. Couple problems, it's unverified, and it's a game-breaking bug. Now, free diamond duplicators are undoubtedly cool, but it would probably be patched quickly as it hurts multiplayer. Thanks for the suggestion, please keep suggesting more!

This is actually a pretty good intro video to minecarts. Couple problems here too, firstly being that the minecart is on a perpetual loop, in motion, until called. Back in the olden days when that was how activated boosters worked, minecart momentum values would cap out and just freeze the cart in place, breaking the system. It's far easier to have it go to a power rail against a wall, which when activated pushes it back to the player, plus being cheaper to build. Secondly, it's too basic to go on here, unfortunately. I'm not above linking tutorial type links, even basic ones, but you would have to make up for lack of awesome content with awesome presentation or being extremely informative. Thanks though, and keep posting suggestions!
I'm also aware that a lot of links on the first post are not accepting the BBCode since this forum maintenance, and since it's exactly the same format as the working links and there's not a mistake at the beginning of the broken links to screw up the nesting, then I'm going to assume it's their fault for now. Or, there's just a limit on the links in a post on this new format, whatever. I'll work on it later.
Bottom half of the post seems a bit mucked up (May just be may to be honest).
Massive credit to you for spending time on this, cheers!
Yeah, I'm aware. It got messed up after a forum update, and I suspect it's probably a forum limit to the number of links in a post or the amount of allowed BBCode because everything is formatted exactly the same as previous links in the post that work properly. I posted to get help from moderators and got no response at all, so yeah...

Edit: The "Sand door" link is useless.
Thanks for your compliments!

Sorry, I don't list servers because there are thousands of them.
