@Gobbie: Do you mean the potions? I was thinking the same thing. YOu could have Medics in huts on mountains and they could throw health potions down or things like that.
...MAYBE. NOT SURE IF THAT'S ACTUALLY A GOOD IDEA.
Someone throwing potions into a designated healing area every once in a while actually could be more efficient (and faster) than everyone having their own potion (especially since Ghast tears are difficult to come by). The problem is throwing at the right time to maximize effect without helping the other team. Damaging splash potions are self explanatory.
The healer would also be a high priority target, probably needing more powerful armor. It would be less risky if you make it difficult to tell who threw the potion.
This needs to be tested.
Also, it is now possible to get grass blocks, diamond/coal/redstone ores, and ice legitimately using a "silk touch" enchantment. Ice can be placed in the nether and broken to make water (this may be a bug).
Also (again), "Air portals" can't be moved. If the End is of any value, it would be essential to find and hold strongholds. Strongholds can now be found using "Eyes of Ender", so the enemy would be able to find the same portal you found. This results in the need to permanently hold a specific location, and prevents you from just hiding it well. However, the End is currently completely useless, since you can't leave without dying.

Also, in pre release 4, ghast tears now make regeneration potions that heal you over time. A new item called the glistering melon, which is crafted using a melon slice and a gold nugget, is used for instant health potions.

I was thinking this as well. Now that End Portals are in the game, if the End becomes valuble, holding the portal will become a priority of any army, especially if new items will be available.
Splash potions for insta damage to foes will be deadly. If you pot a splash pot in a dispensher the pot will act like any arrow and if it hits its target there death to you.

I beat two super hostile maps, see of flame 2 and spellbound, have to finish more. Plan to do inferno mines for lulz and win when it goes out. Have fun!

Yes, splash potion dispenser traps will become an entire new generation of SMP traps. You could rig up a slowness potion dispenser to work in conjunction with a lava trap to slow the player down so that they can't react in time to stop the lava. These traps could become very sophisticated in their design. Just loading a dispenser with a variety of negative splash potions could destroy or disorient any foe it hits. And since splash potions affect anything within a five block radius of impact, they can be used for crowd control purposes as well.
I think the teir three insta damage pot can kill you at like 9 or full health. Someone look into that please?

I know how to make all the currently available potions. Also, tools enchanted with Silk Touch will allow you to mine blocks to drop their item, such as smooth stone, grass, mycelium, ore blocks, double slabs, and MONSTER SPAWNERS!!!!!

With the Silk Touch enchantment, monster spawners will be moveable, allowing you to build the spawner with your base, instead of building your base around the spawner. They will also become a feasible trade item. Powerful factions would have little use for zombie spawners, but newer factions could use them as valuble sources of experience orbs.

I think the ice bit is in response t one bugging him on Twitter for the past 4-5 months about making ice craft able. Maybe not. But, this is awesome. It means easier animal spawners underground, and ice traps (soulsand on ice). Also, I hope that the whole ice breaking into water is not a bug. I doubt it is. That way, you can get water, but it requires tons of work.

OK. Moveable spawners = whole new warfare. Val, you need to update this. Imagine the possibilities. Closer mob grinders, enemy traps, oh my God I'm spazzing out with this knowledge. But, has this been tested?

Or while in battle, this give Archers a whole new purpose. If needed, take out squads with nausea or poison or something. Creepers will become extinct.
I've been able to keep up with most hings, but the potions just blow me away. I can keep up with the principles, but the ingredients and recipes are too much.
Same, but double the confusion, goes for enchantment.
DEDICATED.
HEALERS.

NOOOOO! They would've become ultimate XP generators...
Oh, btw, just for fun:
I took this myself. I walked past the flowerbed and did a doubletake.
