Why does it when I use my level app and add the cords and press search for slimes it comes up with nothing and just says "Slime map" in words with no map... Can you fix this because I want to find slimes now.

so i got my big room built and caves and surface lit up. yet ive only had one slime spawn in my room. i know theres stuff about mobs not spawn within a certain distance of me in the game but theres also a maximun distance too? a little help with that would be shnazzy

I think I'm lighting the spawn area wrong. The wiki says "Slimes require two vertical non-opaque blocks (e.g., air, signs, torches) to spawn in, with an opaque block underneath." but I can't seem to understand it. I've been waiting 40 blocks away for about an hour now and none have spawned... Could anyone please help me clear things up?
EDIT: Nevermind I got it to work but I dont know exactly how. I beleive it was the cave exploring/lighting that I did
so as long as we are talking about farms. i think is worth mentioning that instead of using tools and math. i simply dig a 50X50X4 room, everyttime i go down to my "farm" i have a large number of slimes, waiting for me. I think it is the most simple and the most effective farm.
So, I have a Slime Chunk. I've tested it, and a Large Slime and some small Slimes spawned in it. I turned it into an automatic Slime Farm, that drowns Large/Medium ones, and brings Small ones to the surface.
It didn't do that.
Basically, there are no cave Systems in the area, which surprised me, so more Slimes spawn there. It is currently a trap with a lit-up spawning pad, and water canals surrounding it. So, should I just patch up the water canals, and make a multi-level farm instead now? Where I can just have around 6 levels or so and just check on them periodically? Will more Slimes spawn?
EDIT: So I decided on my own to change the farm, and i currently sits at 2 levels. Just today I have almost 2 stacks of slimeballs!
I've done testing on different levels and it didn't seem to help more spawn it just caused more time to farm the slime. Latest far
I made with 4 chunks and it's right below my town area, just made it right. Above bedrock and I'll go down after working around my area for 10-20 min and I'll have multiple slimes spawned, last night I had 4 large slimes couple med and smalls, that one load alone gave me 88 Slime balls, and i Havent even lite up any coves near by. I'm going to decorate the area now and level the mountain, put glass in for the roof so natural sunlight comes into the spawn area.

do you mind telling me what level/y-number/etc (whatever you want to call it) your successful farms are on? i'm having a tough time finding them on the multiplayer server i'm on and just knowing what someone else had luck with would be great!

I tried it with terrible results. I gave my wife my glasses for a second, a creeper showed up and now my wife is pregnant.
Stupid 3D..
