Silk touch, in my opinion, is worth a lot more in SMP, just because on many SMP servers, ore blocks are worth a pretty emerald. But it is impossible to get fortune and silk touch on the same pick, they have special code chains that are made to prevent that.
On one (Smp) world I joined recently, the first pickaxe I enchanted got Fortune III (Along with Effeciancy IV and UnbreakingIII). That sort of thing doesn't usually happen, and I was very satisfied.
It was iron, actually, so I had to repair it quite a bit, but it's ok. I hadn't found any diamond at that point, meaning I could make the absolute most out of any diamond ores I found.
I r get it 1 before. lol it was fun getting smooth stone. useless for nething else honslty i threw it in lava after use it for getting smooth stone.
Nice attempt at trolling, but nobody's falling for that. If you really had gotten silk touch, it would have been from a Lv.30 enchant, which you would only put on a diamond pick, and you never throw anything made of diamonds away. Even if the enchantment is terribad (bane of arthropods IV), you can still use it to repair other tools.
anyone ever enchant books to save? you can combo 2 books together on hte same tool, right? couldn't you technically make a silk touch book and an unbreakable book and save them for a diamond pick later on?
i have never enchanted a book, so im not sure what can even happen, or what enchants can be gained that way.
I want to get silk touch before Fortune III so I can keep the ores then mine them when I get a Fortune enchant. But I've never gotten Silk Touch or Fortune, and on my main world my enchantment station isn't complete because there was no cows, and I had to go to a swamp (I live on extreme hills) and get some which took some tries because escorting two cows through the night is dangerous and I died from creepers or the cows did but then I just made a farm there but there isn't enough cows to kill for leather. I recently brought two cows to my house which killed me once but I have a farm of four cows.
I've never had a silk touch pick on a single player world. But on the first & only SMP server I've ever played on, I have two silk touch picks & a silk touch shovel. As well as a streak of other really good enchantments.
It's a bit bizarre to enchant things hoping for unbreaking/efficiency because you already have a pile of silk touch & fortune tools that you don't want to waste.
first, did lots of research into enchanting, not caring type of pick...
then, set up my enchanting table with 15 book cases and got 30 levels of XP, etc...
then (on the first try) the diamond pick i enchanted with lvl 30 enchant, recieved Efficiency IV and Silk Touch 1.
i happy danced.
What do you mean? A friend of mine raged because he got Fortune III and Silk Touch I on his Lvl30 enchanted Diamond Pick
Yeah, Ive gotten them both before. Because they cant both work, silk touch will work normally and fortune will be nothing more than a name.
