I've played Minecraft since before Beta 1.3, it seems that at the point I am at I've nearly lost all interest in Minecraft, I am not ready to quit Minecraft. Usually, when the new update rolls around I get back into the game playing for a few weeks, but not with the 1.4 update. So, my question is, what is a way to get interested in Minecraft again?
I suggest trying something new. I've played since alpha, and I've yet to get bored of the game. There's always something to do, you might just have to find it. I like to grind resources by caving, farming, or mob hunting until I think of something a little more fun.
A few ideas: Store everything in a chest, kill yourself and start over. It's a better alternative to deleting your world in case you want to go back to your old base.
Try learning redstone if you haven't already. If you have, find something new and clever. Perhaps invent something, or improve on another invention.
SMP is always a good option as well.
I don't, however, suggest turning to mods. The vanilla game is the best, in my opinion. Mods sort of ruined the vanilla game for me, so now I'm always wondering why this works this way or this bug hasn't been fixed yet.

In the end it's all up to you, good luck
I do the dying thing and restart all over :] I found my house twice, but didn't salvage it. I delete the world when it reaches a Gigabyte, oh good times.
...which is why I would suggest getting a mod for better terrain. The ones that emulate 1.7.3 are good. There's also BWG but I have a feeling it doesn't fix the problems it has (it doesn't remove EH).
If you don't care about terrain, go get other mods. Or play Dwarf Fortress, which is similar but with multiple characters (you control a fortress of Steves instead of one Steve) much harder, much more complex, much more fun (if you can get past the control scheme, ASCII, and difficulty curve brick wall), and much more Fun.
You could play some custom maps. Complete the Monument ones are always good. There are some novelty servers (servers that aren't typical gameplay) like Trouble in Mineville (Trouble in Terrorist Town port) or MineZ (DayZ port) or Paintball.

Personally I like to build but Minecraft doesn't allow you to do very detailed building.

I haven't found many CTM maps that I like the ones I liked most the creator stopped making, and I don't like a lot of Vech' newer maps.
Have you looked into the customized modpacks (Feed the Beast and Tekkit/Technic) if so, give those a try
Much like you, I felt the same way about Minecraft. While the game does bring some new features every so often, it never fully brings back the same interest I had when I started. The modpacks however, help bring back that Multiplayer urge I had back in Beta
Minecraft [Alpha] 1.7.3 had blocks that you can use to build with.
Minecraft now has blocks that you can use to build with.
Nothing has changed in my opinion." That is all.

The only thing PE has over PC is terrain...

Then there's also IWBTG on insane difficulty.

What caused you to get bored of it? Just curious.

Lord of Nova Tekkit Nations
1) play on a server
2) try out some mods
3) start a megabuild
4) take a break
Since when were topics that haven't even been around for a week considered old? What people consider boring is different from person to person.
Or they just go back a page or two while looking through the topics.
