You aren't alone in single-player...
I play single player because multiplayer consists of griefers, lag and rules. If I go on multiplayer I quit and never come back after playing once :l
When I play single player, I am happy because I know my stuff will not be griefed, that I am the first one to find this cave or walk along this river, I can create uninhibited, and while I may be alone, the world is solely mine to change and edit as I see fit.
First of all, in multiplayer
YOU GET GRIEFED
second of all, multiplayer is extremely buggy
and singleplayer is just more fun.
You can do anything, and you know nobody is watching you from a hillside aiming with his bow and arrow.
I've always been pulled towards multiplayer servers because I don't like being alone, and I like having others see my work as it progresses.
But, lately I've been wondering if I should attempt single-player and take it seriously, due to the server I usually play on going down.
What about Single Player drives you to work on your map? Give me details please! I appreciate it.
Well. Single player can be good so:
1. you don't have to worry about griefing, pvp, or spam.
2. most mods are only single player.
3. with singe player you can always start a new world and see new terrain, unlike a server with just one map.
I play singleplayer because it's not laggy, updates won't get in the way, you never have to worry about getting griefed, there are no rules, there's no such thing as protected land, you get to choose what mods there are, you have a good deal of control over everything overall.
I play multiplayer when I'm lonely and want to explore together for a change.
I love and hate servers as well as single player. I like servers cause I have the thrill of being scared that I'll get griefed. But I hate them due to MASSIVE lag, and normally, A lot of complainers and people that grief when they aren't supposed to.
Single player for me, is where I can chill, build things that I don't want to be griefed, and where I can play for real. I build everything in singleplayer before i build in SMP or CMP

I play single player for 2 VERY simple reasons.
1: The mods. Single player has many more mods that are available that make gameplay not only fun, but interesting aswell!
2: Quite simply I hate most people. I don't trust a single person online to NOT grief my work, or tear apart every aspect/detail of my work. When I'm playing alone I don't have to worry about people thinking their "input" is needed.
I don't like putting time into a save that I have little control over. In single player, I can be sure that my things are going to be saved and backed up.
Because in multiplayer I can't build anywhere and it takes ages just to be able to build something. I DON'T WANT TO PAY MONEY FOR YOUR SERVER. I ALREADY GOT THE GAME.
JUST
LET
ME
BUILD.
And that is why I hate Bukkit servers.

Im sorry to admit it,I dont really play Single player,I would play it ALOT more if it wasnt so lonely :sad.gif: I always like someone to mine with etc,Maybe a mod that will do this?
Multiplayer has a slight bit of lag, that's why fighting creepers suck. So generally I will play singleplayer for that reason. The other reason being, I can never find a server that I like.

For me, sometimes, and I assume that also to the OP, multiplayer is more fun, everyone has their own idea of fun.
So its more fun for you.
For me, I play SP mostly because I don't have to worry about having to please someone else with my actions, ex: I can start creating huge TNT cannons and not have to worry about rules preventing me from using it. I also find it extremely annoying that, when you join a popular server for the first time, there's nowhere to build/explore. In SP, everything you see is either yours or undiscovered. In MP, you almost always have to walk an extremely far distance to find anywhere to build, and even then, all the resources will be depleted. Also, in my opinion, there are too many bugs in MP for it to be enjoyable.
The only form of "fun" MP for me is either being with the server since the start, knowing the owner(s) in person/have direct contact to them, or owning the server yourself. I have had the most fun in Minecraft when a friend hosted a server, but now that he's taken it down, I prefer SP.
this is a great question i think the reason why i play more SP over SMP is the pure fact that you have 12-15 year olds trying to run these servers. Now dont get me wrong there are a small fraction to pull it off but most are not ready for the responsibility, it really pisses me off when i spend 2 weeks working on a server and for instance i kill an admin's friend and i get banned. the good thing about SP is that there are NO RULES, NO REGULATIONS, YOU DO WHAT THE F*$% YOU WANT!!!!

But the not being griefed is fun. Local LAN servers are also fun with friends, if none of them are jerks.
