I play on a private server that has been running since November 19, 2011. Lots of memories there. I know that world better than I know my own hometown.
My personal server that I've been running since SMP was added. I even have our original world loaded on one of the alt dimensions. (Though it currently think's it's the nether biome, I really ought to fix that sometime.)

Yeah as Falager said, Blocktopia is probably one of the, if not the oldest community still around. It dates back to July 2009, it went through a name change in 2011 from TheOne's to Blocktopia. Their forum is in my sig
Actually, while AoD was indeed released 2012, the Blocktopia community itself dates back to July 2009, when it's first server, then under the name of TheOne's was founded.
I'm not sure what the oldest server that I play on that's still running and active, although I do know one that shut down, Team9000, it had a server for classic Minecraft. I think that was the oldest server I played on. Ask me for a list of servers that are active that I play on if you think you might know the dates that they were created (at least the year).

Yeah Team9000 was probably the oldest server in classic, it outlived many of its rivals. They had like 2.5 million logged players I think. Team9000 prolly oldest maps. Blocktopia = oldest community most likely. However since blocktopia used to have classic servers up until I think April 2013, some of its classic maps have been converted to premium...Some of those maps are from 2009 so yeah.

Well, I started playing minecraft when it first became public (Around early 2010) and the maybe... 5th server I ever went on was xemcorp, and is still running (Currently down for maintenance..) but it started in early 2011, and I joined on nov. 09th 2011 still an active member.
I would say nznetwork.co.nz
I played on it in late 2011, it's still running perfectly. The server is whitelisted though and you need to be in the New Zealand region I think to play on it?
