Hello, my name is Flurry33 and I have been playing minecraft since Alpha (The Nether Update 2010). I remember buying this game and playing it non-stop for hours. I played this game just about everyday I could by myself and with friends untill xbox minecraft was released. This game was truly amazing with awesome multiplayer servers untill mid Beta(I guess you could say) when potions and other things were released. The game is no longer simple minecraft. It seems like multiplayer has gone downhill from to many plugins and hackers. Honestly if you are a player since 2010 you will probably understand what I mean. Minecraft is still an enjoyable game to play but I really dont think its as good as it once was. I guess you could also say that good old minecraft is dead, and new minecraft is, well, just new. also everyone knows about the game now. Honestly this game is still amazing and a complete genius concept of a game. I am looking forward to future Mojang games. I also still play tekkit from time to time.
Ehhhh, I kind of agree with you but with the new plug-ins and updates you have a broader range of things to do. I like the new Minecraft.
I do like the new plugins, but its just the change of everything i guess. I dont really know how to explain it.
AlsoI know the game is nottechnically dead. I am mainly talking about the old minecraft and how the game has changed A LOT and probably a bit to much to the point were it doesnt really feel the same anymore.
This doesn't explain why you think Minecraft is dead. This explains why you think it's not good anymore.
Minecraft is far from dead. All of it's sales are still increasing, the fanbase is still growing. Updates are still being pumped out, and they're great.

THATS A GOOD THING
How would you feel if that instead of changing things in Minecraft, all this time Minecraft just got new blocks?Minecraft would probablywould be near death if they never changed alot in Minecraft. They've improved, removed, and changed many things, and thats a good thing because what would happen if it was the same dang thing 2 years ago? It would be boring... old... tiresome... nothing would be new and it would feel incomplete still!

Yeah I just changed the title to fit the topic better, also im not a big fan of the new updates. Some are good but others I hate

This is the first major problem. You already went through the addictive phase, a phase where you just keep consuming your favorite product. Have you ever heard the saying that, "The worst thing Satan can do to you in hell is play your favorite song for an eternity?" If you wonder what that means, it's that you will enjoy your favorite song at first, but over time, and constantly listening to it, you will grow tired of it to the point you will despise it, then, if forced, grow to despair it. Minecraft is the same thing. It has not changed since Alpha, the core part of the game is still there, but you've reached a point of fatigue that would happen for any game.
Nor should it be. Think about it, if Mojang stopped updating and released Minecraft say, back when it was Beta and entirely forgot about it, how quickly do you think it'll last? Putting nostalgia reasons behind, you can see that the game has to grow in order to be successful. Minecraft did not get as big as it did because it sat around and just let mods do all the work, no, Mojang kept updating the game and adding to it. This is new content that makes stuff fresh. Even with all these new layers, the core of the game is still the same as ever before. I don't see how a simple Minecraft would last long.

Which I said before, this is entirely out of Mojang's control and is not their fault.

And it rightfully so is a spectacular game. The most successful Indie game known, still selling 14+K per day, it is truly a success by all means. However, I think your reasoning to what's wrong with Minecraft is poor as none of the reasons is really a fault of the game nor Mojang. I will respect the fact you grew tired of the game, as I have too, but, the main reason it got boring for me is because I played it constantly non-stop like you did. It drained me, and this was not the fault of Minecraft. Mojang is actually making a smart move right now buffing how hard the game is, as it's now more challenging, but not everyone likes challenges, so I guess it's not the same for all.
It's an opinion thread, and I always respect opinions, but there's some reasons I see that don't quite line up to how it's Mojang's fault.

Mojang can't control what servers do. This is not their fault, not even the slightest.

I feel like one of my other main problems is it takes me hours to find good minecraft servers. I would probably play more if they were easier to find.
Mojang can't control what type of servers become popular or what kind they are. This is simply not Mojang's or Minecraft's fault. Not that I'm disagreeing, I hate most of the servers that are popular these days, but you just got to realize that this is not the fault of Mojang or Minecraft.
I understand what you're saying, and what the countless others who feel the same way are saying. You think Minecraft has become a different game than it once was because of additions in the updates. It doesn't have the same simplistic 'feel' that 'old' Minecraft had. I understand the feeling. It's similar to the nostalgic yearning for your first day in Minecraft - an experience everyone can relate to - when you were trying to understand the game and felt proud that you built a 5x5 wood hut. The thing is, Minecraft is unique in that it has its own little niche, in a way. Its defining value is that it is a sandbox game, offering endless possibilities. Limiting its potential by defining it by its 'old feel' would have lead to its failure as a game. In my opinion, the 'Minecraft feel' is still present and always has been. It has evolved as the game has changed through its development, but is the same fundamentally as it was back in alpha. Minecraft is about whatever you want it to be about, and its features allow for endless possibilities, restricted only by your creativity. I've heard people say that Jeb and Dinnerbone are taking Minecraft in the wrong direction, but Minecraft was never being 'directed' anywhere but where the developers wanted it to be taken. Sure, at its core the game is about what the title implies, mining and crafting, and it still is, but it is also about much more than that. Updates since 1.8 have significantly broadened Minecraft's horizons with new features that allow for new experiences. Because the game has been, and continually is, updated with new content - without any specific 'direction' - the game continues to be fun to play - that is, if you can get over the fact that Minecraft is different, and that's a good thing.
Another one of these posts? I seriously hope you're joking.

95% of teens would scream if Justin Beiber was about to jump of the top of the Empire State Building. If you are in the 5% that would grab a seat and some popcorn and yell JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! post this into your sig.

I'm guessing that it isn't any specific change to the game that has affected your enjoyment; more likely, your feelings about the game are due to the fact that you were playing Minecraft non-stop for hours. Maybe add a new hobby to your schedule. I recommend skinny-skiing.
It really sounds like you're just sick of minecraft.
The great thing about this game is the "it was better before" argument doesn't work when every previous version is still fully available and functional. I can't find anything like that anywhere else. I heard 1.6 was buggy as hell, so I just didn't get it. Still holding off while I finish some adventure maps in the version they were intended for.
11 million sales and counting and yet you say the game died?
Plus you say there are hackers everywhere, which is only the case for Faction servers *Cringes at the word*
Factions or *shudders* the deep, dark place known as mcpvp.
I feel this is overdramatic. Try finding a vanilla whitelisted server and they are still good!

I have discovered a truly remarkable proof of this, which this margin is too small to contain.

For 4 months, but yes. I guess you know who my favorite champion is then.
