I think they should do what xbox does, you gotta pay a small fee to change your username! It makes people happy and makes mojang some extra coin

I support IF:

1. Like steam, there is a base name and you can change your DISPLAY name
2. You are banned by base name
3. Fee's for it. You get your first change free.
4. BACON

Yes, I do support Minecraft Username Changes.

Reasoning -

1. Banning wouldn't be a problem, there would just be a UUID set to your account you bought.

2. Spelling Mistakes will be easier to change.

3. A cost or fee for changing your name, like every one year you can change your name.

4. People won't have to use hacks or third party programs to change their username.

5. It will stop questioning and bugging about how to change usernames and why they cannot.

6. When someone makes a new username they cannot use usernames that aren't already in the database.

7. If someone changes their username to a famous youtuber or a mojang staff member, they will be reverted to their last username and will not be allowed to change their username for another year.

Hopefully the Mojang staff will see this post and take this into consideration in the next update.

I support the idea, but the reasons you gave to support it were absolutely terrible. A person should only be able to change their username to one that isn't already taken, and your last username will then be up for grabs.

How are they terrible? You're basicaly changing the words of #6, which I did not see that I messed it up.

People could run around spamming servers, and then change their name.

The only exception would be if you put personal information in your username, but that usually doesn't happen, and it doesn't really matter. I, myself even put my real name as my Minecraft username.

I'm for, because people can grow out of the usernames they made and the guys at Mojang are smart, so they won't do it until they've made it very difficult to abuse.

I like the idea. I used to like mario, I don't anymore and my YouTube and Steam names are different to my Minecraft names. Its OK for things like forums, but in Minecraft being called what I am is pretty annoying.
The game would use a UUID, and use that for bans.
It would be:

Change username [username]
username is already taken!



So people can't use a name someone else is using.

I say yes for a reason. My reason is that you should have to pay a small fee, like 5$ a name change, and you can only do it once a year. That would decrease the number of a users that would possible abuse it. It would also increase the number of profit mojang gets because I'd assume large quantities would like to change their username. Win win here.

I am for the idea of changing usernames because it will give people the option of changing their username when they feel like it should be changed.
however then there would be the problem of identifying people.

so implementing changeable display names with a command or some other way of checking the original username of people might be a better idea.

I am for changing usernames. I made my original username quickly and without much thought. I just slid my fingers down my keyboard and tacked my initials to the end. Now that I think about it, I would rather be jcl0713

I like this idea.

Some players that first made accounts in alpha did not know at that time that their user name would be their character name when multiplayer was first introduced. They saw it as a mmorpg that you could make another name for online play.

Heck, some players in Beta (*ahem*) did not know their user name would be their in-game name. I would love to change my in-game name to something more suitable to Minecraft. As long as there are proper safeguards to allay abuse, like the OP and many have listed before me, this has my support.

I am making a lifestyle choice, one that came long after I set up my minecraft account. The current account name is not in form with what I aim to become and serves as a grim reminder of what I leave behind.

I do think that being able to change your username is a good idea especially if you have outgrown your username. There are time when I WISH i could change it. However, it can create many problems. One being it make it harder to keep away griefers. Two being that people could create offensive usernames or impersonate other people. Once a year is a good idea and a small fee is good too

Well i Agree, Im using my Older brother's minecraft username because i dont have any minecraft account and im lazu to make it, so please agree!
