Erm, what?
Some mods are simply easier to showcase in Creative. IE: Ones with lots of blocks.
Well actually no, they'd use mods that support mod blocks . . .
But for mods that do change a lot of survival, Creative is an OK way to show it off.
Like using it to showcase new Mob AI since you can't be killed, or using it to showcase things like the Smart Moving Mod when you can fly, etc etc.
Also, Survival and Creative are non-comparable and two completely different things.
Look at the technic pack. It has hundreds of ways for users to use it, and it's made for legit, to get resources faster. Now give me one COMPLETELY legit video on it. See? The technic pack is used primarily in creative.

No, things such as these are showcased primarily in creative. The reason nobody makes videos of using it in survival is because quite frankly I don't want to watch a video of someone spending hours gathering resources to make a simple machine that they could show me in a matter of minutes.
It's not the end of the world just because some people like to play the game differently then you... Doesn't bother me at all. Just because I have been playing the game for a long time doesn't mean I can't accept the new content and ideas coming to the game. People who speak like this just need to be more open-minded and less ignorant. The game is constantly changing, you have to change with it, if you refuse, then there is nothing much you can do. If people intend to play the game in creative, that's their choice. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you should complain about their right to use it.
Lazy scums eh? Scums? You think that word is some kind of joke? It is an extremely harsh thing to say about how someone plays a game. You should probably think about what you are saying before you throw it out there.
I understand your reasoning. But I'm not complaining about people using creative mode. Hell, I've even used creative mode, and it certainly has its perks. But I believe that people are much happier playing legit. From personal observations, the update that made the most people subsequently drop minecraft was 1.8, because creative mode tempted players into using it, and maked players lose interest after they spawned in 1000 TNT.

Yeah I agree, but I'm saying that because of creative the portion of mine craft that used TMI 100% the time a spoiled themselves grew from the 15% of mine craft players that majorly used mods, to the 95% of people that are lazy scums to me. Almost every video I've seen on youtube from after 1.8 that is not an LP is pretty much in creative...
so you're mad that people are being creative in a building game...

Indeed, I also prefer playing in survival and get many more hours of entertainment from it than I find myself getting in creative. But creative is having absolutely no effect on the game. It is not ruining it for people who already know the glory of the game. And if new players are to ignorant to explore the game to it's full extent, that is their problem, not the game's. The game is not losing survival, it is just bringing about a new style for those who do not find survival to be as satisfying as some of us do.
Creative is not hardcore! You can build anything you want in SMP it's just HARDER (minus blocks which aren't included in Survival, very few of these though)!
I don't understand what you just said please rephrase that...
I agree with you. I started in 1.7.3 and I had NO idea how to install a mod. I didn't bother to look up a tutorial either, so I kept playing regularly without any mods. Eventually I got SPC but only for roller coasters since their was no creative. I don't really use creative and I still play survival with no mods expect for a hardcore map emergency.
P.S.
Hunger doesn't bother me at all.
P.S.S.
I feel so happy when I find diamonds still. :laugh.gif:

I don't think that many people actually ever spent the time using the technic pack legitimately. While it is true that most technic pack videos are showcases, I've watched videos where people start legit on mods like these (and also things like equivalent exchange), and end up abandoning their dreams of playing legit. Mods like these have the potential of being very, very fun in survival, but the temptation of spawning in the super-end-game weapons proves too great for some people. Even the mod showcasers probably never played legit with the mods.

I guess that's true. I still think that the addition of creative has "converted", if you will, players from survival to it, and then caused them to lose interest in minecraft because they lost interest in creative, but I guess that could be their own damn fault in any case.

Yes, this is absolutely true. If they don't want to spend their time getting the full substance from the modification, there isn't much that can be done for them.

They already bought the game, Mojang made profit, it's their choice what they do with it, for all I care they get bored after 2 minutes. I sure have had fun with the game in all the time I have been playing, and they can have fun too if they want to. Although it is true that creative does provide a distraction from survival, it truly is their fault, much like you said.
Anything that you build in Creative can also be built in survival, it's just HARDER because you need to collect the materials and use scaffolding because you can't fly. This makes structures which are equal in size and complexity MORE impressive in Survival.

Of course. But if all you're doing is a demo on constructing a redstone mechanism, or a tour of a map, or whatever, then Creative makes far more sense. Besides, I see lots of videos where people use survival mode for what they're doing. Including the demonstration of a gigantic mob grinder.
Calling that a generalization is itself a logical fallacy.
If schools still had debate teams more people would know this sort of thing.
That's interesting, considering I'm a freshman studying politics in a university right now, that you try to say this to me.
Once again...
LOLFAIL
and the reason that the paradox never existed is because your initial statement was false. Saying that creative ruined the game is not a sweeping generalization. I can say for a fact that Hitler and the National Socialist party caused the Holocaust. It's not a sweeping generalization, and if it is, it is still true. I can say that obese people are less healthy than people with lower body mass indexes. That is a sweeping generalization, and most doctors would agree that this is true for the most part.
You learned that sweeping generalizations cannot be perfectly true in your high school. But in college, we learn that they can be mostly true, too. It's all in how you use them, kid.

That's interesting because this is the internet so I'm a professor of astrophysics with a super-model wife.
Credentials are useless on the internet because you don't actually have any as far as the internet is concerned.
Also it's sad because everyone downloads mods but don't use them because they always play creative, then get bored with the game and forget about how fun survival was. Only youtubers, hardcore fans, and the occasional bloke who doesn't know about mods or texture packs, actually plays the survival mode for the entertainment.
P.S. - That is a generalization, so you're wrong on there not being a generalization in the OP as well.
P.P.S. - No one will ever believe your story about being in college if you use asinine internet terms like "LOLFAIL". You should also try to keep your story straight since Political Science (the actual college subject that deals with politics) is unrelated to Philosophy (the subject that deals with proper logic and debate).
The thing I hate about forums like this is that we get in fights. People start to lose their cool, and they start to get confrontational, and they don't stay on topic. Me and Sir_Veillance had a disagreement that was on topic, and we ended up coming to common middle ground in our on topic debate.
Now papasmurf and I have a disagreement. Papasmurf's first post seemed to me to be a troll post, so I trolled the troll. He trolled me back, and it ended up coming to this. I doubt that the readers of the post are enjoying the forum with irrelevant garbage on it. I am not free of blame for this. However, neither is papsmurf. Let's end this argument here, Papasmurf, at a draw. Ok?

True that. What does annoy me a bit is when people demonstrate building mob grinders or whatever in Creative. No, that is lame. Don't demo a build in Creative which is meant to be built in SMP. For showing examples/mods, Creative is the preferred choice for good reason.
Hey guys, let's state our opinions about a video game as fact!
Why does it matter what people play? Does it ruin your life when someone plays on Creative? People have different opinions and not everyone want's to play survival. That's the beauty of Minecraft, you don't have to play it any specific way.
Well to your own logic there, all sweeping generalizations are false, so your sweeping generalization is false too.
Which means that...
Oh wait. A paradox. derp
