Wow, this might be going somewhere. But I'd still like to see universal height variation in the normal-sized biomes mode.
Btw, we don't hate everything about the current terrain. And even if we brought back aspects of the 1.7 generator into the one we have now, nothing from the current generator would be removed, even mass amounts of flat land. <- I've said this so many times and I think people should honestly think about it before posting. T_T No offense, this might not have been what you meant but people are going ballistic thinking I want to bring back the 1.7 generator when I clearly don't.

I agree with you, The size of biomes(in defult generation) is fine, I don't mind some flat land, and the structures, mountains, and amounts of ore is perfect (atleast if your in smp), we just want varriation, and a few terrain fixes thats it.
Too bad it's only a jungle. We obviously know that jungles have some height variation to them. And is it just me or does height variation only occur in jungles where water is present?

@ Stingra: Yees, that's the kind of terrain we need
With the new height limit it should also be a cinch to make real epic mountains...
Soo, I was just bored and turned my local "extreme" hills biome into a nice little forest valley, with world edit:
(Images are before and after)
I don't think there would be a great problem with just making trees spawn in a hills biome...
Beautiful just Beautiful
Btw as for the minor terrain changes apperantly theres jungle ruins, it seems minecraft is slowly becoming more... gammy but the terrain it self still needs improvement

That certainly makes a huge difference in appearance, provides lot's of resources too.

Indeed. I still don't get it why they decided that the extreme hill biome doesn't need trees. It just makes it look dull, even though the landscape is interesting.
Plains has Extreme Hills which have Extreme Hills Edge. Even the hills have hills!
Desert has DesertHills
Forest has ForestHills
Taiga has TaigaHills
Jungle has JungleHills
Ice Plains has Ice Mountains
MushroomIslandShore has MushroomIsland which is basically mountainous hills
Swampland / River / Beach don't have hills. I think this is OK.
Ocean / FrozenOcean don't have hills. Until we get rolling seas, this is OK.
Hell and Sky are Nether and End, neither of which need more terrain variation.
The Hills are the chunky bits with cliffs, overhangs, plunges to certain death. In the latest snapshots the terrain smoothing has been wound back a bit so there's more oomph to them as well.

Hmmmmmmm a pic of these hills would be most appreciated so you can rest your case
We don't know if the hills in that code is the small pathetic hills we have now
And if they did added more hills it better not be spammed like hell, (cough... Extreme Hills biome... cough .... spam...cough)

Yeah, those are just the hills we have now. They aren't new at all; no new biomes (technical or otherwise) have been added since the addition of jungles.
Does anyone think that removing the X-hills biomes, while returning full basic height variation to the main biomes is a good idea? This way, mountains would not ALWAYS be spammed together.

The Hell?! Jeb please do not enlarge the ocean biome pleeeeeaaase!
4 hundred THOUSAND blocks... Far Lands was at 16 million... It wouldn't take many oceans to get there.

Yea that is true...
Where the hell are THOSE beaches and mountains?!?!?!
Dat terrain.
Have you considered updating the OP with pictures user's have posted?
Looks like Painterly to me, but it could be other things. You should ask the guy who took that picture, Stingra.
I promised I would do an OP makeover with the new pictures. I've just been really busy last and this week. Tomorrow I will hopefully get to it.
KEEP PUSHING GUYS!

Ok - 12w22a has the following biomes and parameters:
This is what is now in the game:
Plains has Extreme Hills which have Extreme Hills Edge. Even the hills have hills!
Desert has DesertHills
Forest has ForestHills
Taiga has TaigaHills
Jungle has JungleHills
Ice Plains has Ice Mountains
MushroomIslandShore has MushroomIsland which is basically mountainous hills
